50/50 isn't that crazy when you consider that Linares is the unified champion and Garcia hasn't proven to be a draw either.

Who's this undefeated champion Garcia has signed to fight? Last I heard he's closer to fighting Omar Figueroa who let's face it kinda sucks.

Linares last fight at the Forum had less than 3k people there. I would say closer to 2k, I would know I was there thanks to GB given my cousin free tickets. Mikey would sell more, especially in SoCal. He had plenty of fans travel to NY and Vegas for his last fights. Linares on the other hand barely draws anything, he got paid 250k, Oscar knows very well that Mikey would have attracted a big crowd for that fight. There's a reason why Linares is always fighting over seas, GB knows he can't bring in any fans so they allow other promoters take their fighter.

I was there too. There were nearly as many Brits as Linares fans.

Mikey isn't a big draw though so when your not a big draw fighting a unified champion fair is fair. He even said he liked their offer and felt it was good.

I've always been baffled as to why Mikey hasn't fought regularly in LA.

Mikey would do GREAT in S. Cali and Texas. No one knows who Linares is. Mikey would do at least 10K in Cali/Texas

Watch some of his Lightweight fights he looked really small compared to his competition. I saw a Loma documentary and his father made go up in his first Olympics when he fought because he said it would be unfair to the competitors if Loma fights in his natural division, he wanted to challenge Loma.

Or hes like 90-95% of other boxers and fights 1-2 weight classes lower than their walk around weight...

Hope we see Loma fight 4x next year. The first two vs Salido and Berchelt at 130, then the second two at 135 vs Linares then Mikey to end the year.

Or, if Pacquiao comes back and wants to actually fight at his best weight class, then Linares and then Pacquiao to end the year at 135, then winner fights Mikey early 2019.

When Loma fights at 130 he rehydrates back to 138-139 (his walk around weight), so if someone who cuts to make 135 rehydrates it's not silly to assume a lot of them rehydrate up to 150 or more in some cases.

If he goes up to 135 and actually fights the top guys like Linares and Garcia great. But he is leaving 130 without beating ANY of the current top 130lb fighters first. Look at today's Ring Magazine rankings for 130

Berchelt, Salido, Tank, Machado, Vargas, Farmer, Corrales, Gonzalez Cherry

Salido is the only guy he's faced and he lost otherwise he hasn't beaten a single top 10 ranked fighter.

I like the Rigo fight but he's a 122lb fighter there are many guys I'd like to see him fight at 130 who he hasn't beaten before he moves up. And if he intends to just fight in house Top Rank guys at 135 then that crosses Mikey, Linares, Farmer off the list. More interested in him fighting the top 130lb guys then him facing the lower tier and in house 135lb guys.

You just said exactly what I said - almost word for word.

Whether Loma was 135 (as he say he was) or 138 vs Salido makes not much difference, the fact is Salido looked way bigger and it's not unreasonable to assume he was pushing 150.

My original point was that if Loma fights at 135 and only rehydrates to his walk around weight, he will be fighting people in the 150s.

Loma is too small for 135 UNLESS he bulks up and puts on more lean muscle. He can't afford to fight at 138-139 and be fighting guys in the 150s - we saw how he was bullied by Salido. Dirty tactics are still tactics, and he will suffer many losses
