  • Comments Thread For: Naoya Inoue vs. Kal Yafai a Non-Starter Over Money

Yesterday Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions shared that British promoter Eddie Hearn, who has recently taken to the American market, had turned down an offer made for his fighter, WBA super flyweight champion Khalid "Kal" Yafai, to unify against WBO boss, Naoya "the Monster" Inoue on the next installment of "Super Fly". Inoue is considered by some to be the division's best.

    No Ancajas though?

Did Yafai and Ancajas both turn down fights with Inoue or what's going on here?

        So no Yafai-Ancajas unification?

Should have made Inoue-Cuadras. I'd rather see that than watch them fight 2 pushovers.

This looks like a great show, Rungvisai v Estrada will be a great main event. Loeffler will put together a great show if Inoue is back and Cuadras definitely can be champion again. Too bad about Yafai not being on the show, but he is not really known in the US, hopefully Hearn builds him up for a future fight on HBO, maybe on Jacobs next fight

Eddie Hearn is not willing to match his fighters against challenging opponents unless the money is right,
but he expects the best heavyweights in the world to fight Joshua for a small fraction of the revenue.

“I would not forgive myself if I put a fighter in a fight that difficult, for poor money, and we lose it all, by just trying to do the right thing for a couple of blokes on the internet. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth of it.” -- Eddie Hearn, mismatchroom C.E.O.

WOW!!! leave it up to Eddie Hearn to not only ruin the highest weight divison with Anthony Joshua but now this cancer has spread to the Flyweights/jr.bantam?! OMG! I hate this guy so bad!!!

What a great article btw credit to Nick Skok. Eddie Hearn is a snake and is clearly pricing himself out, indeed K2 promotions managed to work with multiple promoters to bring us the 2016 card of the year with Superfly, but when it comes to mismatchroom these guys are something else.

Yes, and he talks about building your profile! laughable now that all the top Flyweights have made 'Superfly' THE premiere stage for this weight class.

His greed, arrogance, and foolishness seem obvious when you look at this situation. Unfortunately, the public seems to perceive the Joshua situation differently, as if it's everybody else being greedy. Hopefully that may begin to change.

                    This should read:

“I would not forgive myself if I put a fighter in a fight that difficult, for poor money, and we lose it all, by just trying to do the right thing for boxing fans. I’m sorry, but that’s the truth of it.”
Also, he admits taking Inoue's would be "the right thing to do" . In other words, he'll only ever put his fighters against subpar competition and never take risks. He's an example of why boxing is declining and why the UFC dominates all fighting sports - practically every event is the top contenders battling each other within a month or two. None of this marinating bull****. But blame the Brits who fall for his crap and still pay Boxnation/Sky for awful PPVs.
