I think there's something in that and I also think there's a psychological battle to fight before the one that takes place in the ring. If he caves too quickly in negotiation that may on some level help to bolster the sense that he's a distant second fiddle to AJ. So it's natural for him to stand his ground and fight for parity.
It's a double edged sword however. AJ wants his belt and the undisputed title, but he has more options than Wilder and time is on his side. If Wilder insists on an unrealistic share then AJ can leave him to continue making 1.5m a fight, risking his belt every time even with the limited opposition that he's been taking on. Meanwhile AJ leverages his massive UK following and pursues fights that will still make him 10 times what Wilder makes. mandatories, , maybe another domestic guy like Haye etc. Ultimately Fury if he returns could prove to be a bigger money spinner than Wilder, certainly domestically.
In a relatively short time Wilder will be in his mid 30s and AJ approaching his prime and Wilders chances of beating AJ and then reaping the rewards will be diminishing by the month. AJ can wait to take the green belt from Wilder's successor and the chance of a career defining payday will be gone.
I personally think he should:
A- Take the fight for peanuts, if he's so confident about beating him he'll make his bank after he's undisputed.
B- Go across the pond to claim those belts, if he can do it, he can do it at friggen Buckingham Palace or the local chippy for all I care.
Otherwise it's all just jibber jabber to me.
It is...
Didn't Wilder say it's not about the money it's about the legacy? Then if that's the case then say that you'll take the fight for 8 million and try to beat AJ, then if (a big IF) you win then you command what your next paychecks are.
Right now, he is sounding like he wants way more than what he is worth and is expecting Hearn to put that money up. Again, Hearn is not that ******.

I agree.
The only other thing that comes to mind is that in negotiations, you've got to shoot above what you expect to get and let them beat you down on the price. Parker is squabbling over smaller margins, maybe Wilder is throwing 50/50 out there so he'll end up 60/40. I think Parker going to be 65/35 or maybe even 70/30.
Who knows.
I guess today on a radio show Wilder said he still wants to fight Ortiz. Possibly next? Let's hope that is the case. I'm sure someone with more computer skills can find the radio show he was on today. I never heard the show myself. Obviously if the Joshua fight ain't happening next this would be great! This 50/50 stuff is just a negotiating tactic in my opinion. I think he will settle for much less. A win over Ortiz would boost his value. They should fight on the same day. Joshua/Parker in the day while Wilder/Ortiz in the US at night...

He will not fight Ortiz.
Wilder is taking the path of least resistance to get to Joshua and get paid.
He "said" that he would still fight Ortiz even though the fight was scrapped but then Ortiz was "pardoned" by the WBC. Now he will be fighting in Hialeah on Friday night.
Compare that to the case of Francisco Vargas who was caught by VADA but then he was allowed to fight Orlando Salido.
Either the WBC is inconsistent or they are protecting Wilder so that he can be their rep to fight Joshua.

I don’t know what’s going on anymore with the WBC, now they have cleared Ortiz and Ortiz is fighting a tune up somewhere. With Wilder I kept hearing “Its just negotiation” but those were the same people who kept whinging and crying and him being ducked by Joshua right after he KO’ed Stiverne.
They talked all that rubbish about how they want that fight to happen next, even though we all know that fight can never happen right away, now that Wilder has backed off from his talking and looking more at money, those same posters have now turn their attention away, fact is if they want that fight next then Wilder ends up with less money, if Wilder want the sort of money/% that he is demanding now then he definitely doesn’t want the fight now, he is banking on building the fight enough to get well paid for it.
All those posters who “doesn’t” care what a fighter gets paid because they are not getting anything from it are now in the “He should get 40%” or they should fight in Vegas mode.
Am done with this fight until it has more to it, right now this fight hasn’t reach its potential, they are going to let it marinate and if one of them lose before then they are not good enough.

The guy just got cleared wait & see what happens. It isn’t Wilder’s fault Ortiz & his team are too ****** to fill out paper work. I still think he cheated but I don’t care because he is clear now. He said he wanted to still fight Ortiz yesterday so I will give him a chance to put up or shut up.
