Comments Thread For: WBC Prez Slams HBO: They Prevented Salido-Roman Title Fight!

Why don't you slam Showtime for preventing Stevenson-Alvarez? Is it because Eleider isn't Mexican?

Good for HBO. The WBC already has a champ in that weight. As long as Berchelt is back early next year, there is no need for an interim belt.

                    THIS^^^

I, as a boxing fan, can only think of a handful of times I cared belts were on the line. Match-ups entertain me, I am paying no attention to who holds what belt of what money laundering organization. HBO, Showtime, broadcast networks and ESPN look at every second they have on air as gold. Boxing NEEDS these precious on air times WAY more than it needs a sanctioning bodies 3rd or fourth title in a weight class already diminished by other organizations and their dozen or so titles.

HBO can limit great matches to 8 rounds, so long as they support the sport and get great matches on air. The WBC can go have a car wash to make up for their lost fees.
