    New Guillermo Rigondeaux Interview

The interview is in Spanish, so for those who don't speak it let me give you the gist.

He said that Loma is an excellent fighter with a lot of quality and that his fight with Loma is not a BS fight but a real fight where two champions meet.

He said that he's prepared better for this fight because of the weight but the weight will not be a factor. He said that he moved up because none of the other champions at 122 and 126 would fight him and he's the super champion ( I think he meant the ring champ or the lineal champ). So for Loma he said he went to 130 because the opportunity presented itself, no excuses, no problems. He said he's stronger and faster so Loma can't clown or lose focus cause it could be it.

He said that he would not retire after this fight, he said he would box until he's 60 and be in the game longer than Hopkins.

How does he feel about Lomachenko using his skills against him the way he's done with past opponents. Rigondeaux was laughing saying with me it's different, there is a difference between playing a guitar and playing a violin.

How does he feel about Lomachenko being the favourite? He said, that's ok, after our fight though watch how the stories and the opinions change.

Finally he was asked, what does he think about Lomachenko trying to solve the problem of Rigondeaux being too boring in the ring. Rigo said it's up to Loma to solve the problem, let's see if he could solve the crossword that he will face. Loma could say whatever he wants to say but when he has the demon in front of him it's another thing.

He said he's ready for 12 or 24 rounds.

Great breakdown, brother. I watched the video yesterday on Facebook. I was gonna repost it here on Boxingscene, but you did a much better job than I would have.

One thing that’s struck me about Rigo leading up to this fight, and you can see it in this video, is his utter confidence. It’s not bravado. He really believes he’s gonna win this bout. Lomachenko is confident, too. It makes sense that men who, practically speaking, don’t know what it’s like to lose should be so confident, right? But Guillermo seems especially so. I’m hoping we see a justification to that confidence on Saturday night.

Rigo is actually a pretty witty guy. You just have to understand Spanish to know this. Lol

Rigo is awesome. That "boxing until he's 60" and "guitar vs violin" stuff was badass.

Thanks budd! I keep thinking that Rigo is past his prime but even a past his prime Rigo is way better than Toledo, Selimov and Conceicao who gave Vasyl trouble in the amateurs.
