Comments Thread For: McGuigan, Cyclone Clarify Reasons For Legal Battle With Frampton

Frampton, the McGuigans and Cyclone split earlier this year, prior to the former two-weight world champion linking up with MTK Global as advisors to his career and Frank Warren as his new promoter, along with Jamie Moore who replaced Barry's son Shane McGuigan as head trainer. The popular Ulsterman, 30, suffered his first career defeat earlier this year, when he travelled to Las Vegas and lost a 12-round decision in his rematch with Leo Santa Cruz at the MGM Grand.

Whatever the end result, good that the fighter is able to continue fighting while the legal case is decided unlike with guys like Ward and Garcia

I was not really trying to give McGuigan credit, just saying I prefer the legal system that lets someone in Frampton's situation continue to fight/earn even when they are in a legal dispute with a promoter or manager.

As soon as big money starts coming in, no relationship of any kind is going to last.

What a shame it has to end like this. Barry mcguigan has backed frampton from day one and they seemed to have a father, son relationship. Why do already wealthy people get greedy?

Mcguigan got greedy and his ego got the better of him.

I think all that father/son stuff was just his way of trying to keep Frampton under control to be honest.

Mcguigan gained huge respect as a fighter, but already is damaged goods as a manager.

Josh Taylor could easily be next...

Yeah, Im fearful of this. Theyre doing a great job with him at the moment, would hate to see him leave them and go with Warren at this point in his career.

Barry cheating on his wife is the reason all of this has happened. You heard it here first!
