Look, Gervonta doesn't need Lomachenko to be a star, that's what Mayweather was trying to say but everytime fans talk about Gervonta they manage to find a way to pull Lomachenko outta their ass
I disagree. IMO Loma and Berchelt are the best in the division right now, with Tank, Machado and Salido behind them.

I don't even know how long he is going to stay at 130. if he fights Machado and Salido before moving up, I get that because they are the most money.

Just for career progression and being a diehard fan of the sport, I would rather him fight Machado, Berchelt and then Loma because that really allows him and us to get a true sense of where he is.

I agree, he doesn't need Loma to be a star, but a Loma win would be significant given that he is one of the best in the world p4p IMO.

They can meet at 135, Gervonta will have to move up soon

Lomachenko win is a significant but what if he will take a loss? His career would be fucked up, it'd be hard to make him a ppv star, and this risk is not worth the money because Loma doesn't bring no money

That's a possibility as well. If you only have a couple fights left at 130, get your money. I just don't want to see him fight a Tevin farmer rather than progressively better comp because I think he benefits more long term.

People keep saying he's the next Broner but AB was much better than this guy at 130

Man, you don't get my point, I don't want to try to diss any fighter, but here's the rule - if you want to turn some fighter into a star, you have to match his fights carefully and step up his level of competition slowly. That's the way it works, a lot of careers were ruined because their promoters weren't following that obvious rule.

It's not ducking, when you raise the level of competition slowly you give your fighters a chance to get some experience, adjust to different styles and develop them into more well-rounded fighters. That's exactly what Floyd were saying. You can't throw a young guy like Tank to the wolves, have you seen how he struggled with Fonseca? And Fonseca isn't even top 50 in the division. I'll say it again, Fonseca wasn't even in top 50.

Right now Gervonta needs more experience, he has to adjust to fighters with different styles, counterpunchers or guys who's great on the front foot or back foot. At this point of his career, Tevin Farmer would be a great fight, ffs he's just 23 and it's not like he has amateur experience of guys like Rigo or Loma, it's hard to surprise that kind of fighters with anything in the ring. That's what Floyd was saying about Davis, but a lot of fans misinterpretated that as "ducking". Floyd says a lot of stuff I agree with, that's the biggest reason why he's one of my favorite fighters

Same with Bivol, he has a belt, but that doesn't matter, he has to step up his level of competition carefully and it's too early for for him to take a fight against experienced fighters like Kovalev. He might end up as a better fighter at the end, but he's too green right now and if he's going to face Kovalev now, his career will be ruined. Barrea would be a good step up, but Kovalev? Definitely not. I hope you get the point

Just don't go the way of Broner. I didn't like anything about his last bout, unmotivated, undisciplined, and uninspiring. He needs to tighten up.

Hopefully he goes after Loma now. I don't want to hear anymore excuses.

Get the hell out of here with the whole racist card man. This is my assessment based on what I know, have experienced, and continue to see!!!! You fill kids mind with math and science and more than likely will become scientist. You fill a young child's mind with "I'll remain ****** and do drugs until the day I die" crap, and more than likely they will become the so called "victims of the system" without ever assessing the possibility of owning up to one's mistakes and learning from them. On the contrary, first crime means first promotion on street cred!!!! FACTS man!!! No racist crap like you want to make it to be!!! I see this with Mexican Narco Corridos. You have kids listening to this idiots singing about how macho and bad a$$35 they are killing, decapitating, and how they live life to the fullest with money, cars, drugs, alcohol and women. Ask kids who listen to this crap what they want to be in life and they will tell you a Narco!!!! I wish people could understand how much of an impact this crap has on a child's mind!!!!
