Comments Thread For: Ellerbe: Gervonta Davis Staying at 130, Tabiti Back in Early 2018

BoxingScene.com recently caught up with Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe to get an update on two of his up and coming fighters. Andrew Tabiti made the transition from cruiserweight prospect to contender by going 2-0 in 2017, defeating the then unbeaten Quantis Graves and former champion Steve Cunningham. The latter victory for the Floyd Mayeather Sr. trained fighter came on the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor pay-per-view undercard in Las Vegas.

He’s a star in the making. Already a millionaire, endorsements, large social media following, all the celebrities love him and he isn’t 25 yet. I see why they mad lol. Clean your act up a little bit take some public speaking classes and the young man will be fine.

I hope he fights Machado and then Berchelt. Beat both of them and then you can't avoid Loma.

How Sway? *Kanye voice* What makes you think that a deal between TMT and Top Rank would be easy to make? Top rank has an exclusive deal with ESPN, and Tank has been fighting on Showtime last 4-5 fights. This deal has a ton of layers to it and probably won't get made until the fight hype reaches top $$ earning potential.

I figured he'd stay at 130. He gets cleaned up easily with those guys at the top of 135. Smart move.

He was soft last time out, no doubt he can make 130. My issue is why? Did he do it out of spite, because Floyd semi Mained him after he headlined? Used him as a lead in instead of the star? Head games might work on him if that's the case.

Too many lions at 135 that would eat him up.

Only 23 and already losing his title on the scales? Getting a battery charge shortly after making a splash in the sport? He's getting a worse start than Broner.
