It was ****** that the Kov-Ward fights were not on regular HBO! Those could have easily peaked at 1.5 million or possibly more. Instead of less than 200,000 buys.

Kovalev's HBO deal expired after the first Pascal fight, which was the fight that made Kovalev the mandatory. A purse bid was then ordered and Main Events used the purse bid as leverage to get the best deal possible from HBO for another contract and ditched the purse bid.

The WBC and Stevenson gave Kovalev everything he wanted and Kovalev still refused to take the fight. We can debate whether it was smart business or not, but let's not lie about the timeline. Kovalev was a TV free agent when he became the mandatory. You can't use HBO as an excuse for ducking the purse bid.
