Correct. I also think Casamayor deserves his way into the hall of fame one day.

But your right the hall of famers operating around his years were

Hamed, Morales, Barrera, Pacquaio and borderline Casamayor

Gotta remember he only got a shot at Barrera at 130 in 2007. He was struggling to get significant matches at 126 until then. At 130 he fought the two HOF active at the time and at 135 there were no active HOF (apart from Casa as the champ) and then he pursued a match with the HOF bound Pacquaio above 135.

fought Pac 4x, Barrera (despite being avoided for years), Casa and was largely avoided by Hamed and Morales. Not sure who else he could have fought that's Canastota bound.

He always fought the best, often took the short end of the purse and had concessions like weight against him but just did his thing and got some great wins.

I wouldn't say "he did it" but since it was his retirement cake from his Mexican family, friends, and team I'm sure "he ate it!"

Marquez career was always about skill, technique, counter punching and combinations. He didn't just get good overnight - he was known for beating top fighters for years and often in exciting fashion.

He beat Pacquaio multiple times and got robbed it's just great he ended any "debate" and not only KO'd Pacquaio in the only legit win of the series but he also ended Pacquaio as an elite fighter - and he was 39!

Pacquaio fans need to direct their anger at Morales - he actually failed tests before. They also have a case with Floyd with the IV but who cares about that fight? He was washed up already because of what Marquez did to him. Marquez offered tests for Pacquaio fights and team Pac declined.

            no argument whatsoever

            WAR Marquez !!

the 4th fight was fitting, after what happened in the 3rd

also..... regarding Marquez " excuses ".....

he beat Norwood, he beat Chris John, and imho he also beat Pacquiao in their 1st fight..... before Bradley, the only person to ever truly beat Marquez is Mayweather

IF Pac actually beat Marquez in either of their first two fights, it was never a clean win..... and never as definitive as Marquez victories in the 3rd/4th fights

            Marquez > Pacquiao

              Marquez > Pacquiao
The Norwood and John decisions were atrocities. It's funny because it's *******s that say they were fair decisions. Norwood landed around 55 punches, ran most the night, got floored (avoided another knockdown call in a round he won) if somebody did that and got a win over their god they'd be crying about it every day to this day. Marquez fought too cautiously, but landed basically the meaningful punches, pressed what was of the fight and landed quite a few more. A clear 8-4 and at worse 7-5. But give that KD to JMM and it's arguably 9-3 with an extra point.

The John fight? lol. John is lucky if he won 4 rounds, ran and the ref saved him twice to pull up advertising boards. John's corner just shouts "move, move, move" all fight.

Pac fans would still be claiming he won Morales I if he didn't have a re-match.

Only fair losses were Bradley (an even fight when he was 40 at welterweight way above his optimal weight) and Mayweather (also not a fair match on the weight and the crap floyd pulled at the weigh-in).

Marquez battled A LOT of adversity and that's why he's arguably the most admired boxer of the modern era (by all but *******s).

his counter-punching turned Norwood into a one-handed fighter at times..... problem is, Norwood was somewhat effective with that one-hand..... scoring with his left continually, but struggling to control/contain Marquez who outfought him

they say you have to beat the champ, and he did enough imho

                helluva fighter

I agree, he barely edged JMM as it was a SD win. It was very close.
