I agree with the last part of your comment, I should of said Kovalev will do the catchweight and Gennady would stay at 160 draining Sergay, HBO would like that.
Chilemba was a tough fight for sure for Kovalev, one he desperately needed to prepare for Ward. He kept trying to 'Krush' the guy and Chilemba made him look quite the fool.

And man, don't get me started on GGG. The most overrated bum destroyer in boxing, fighting in the crappest MW division I can remember. Blow Job Saunders has a title for a couple years FFS.

It was a close fight but the judges thought Ward won... Imagine if he wasn't indisciplined, he wouldn't have left any doubts. He quit on the ropes in the second fight. The ref did him a favor so he wouldn't get hurt by a guy he said punched like a woman.

Now that he won against a Taylor mad guy do you really think kovalev would beat a GOOD fighter?

I don't, I think Ward did ruin him especially from that right hand to the jaw that wobbled kovalev, I mean he even had kovalev getting in a car accident! He should hire a driver....he's ruined.
Lmfao. So you eat up what max says huh LOL. Nope i didnt hear it. I watch without sound. Too bad i cant 'mute' you haha. Max hahaha i have heard it all now. That was a good n

          • What is it with some of the announcers' obsession with the amateurs? 500 amateur fights, blah blah blah.

Erickson Lubin's amateur and Olympic career got him knocked out in under 3 minutes ! Loma got schooled by Salido! This is the big boys! Grown men! No head gear, slappy punches!

You either know how to fight, and defend yourself, or you don't! B Hop and Mansour learned their craft in prison yards !

I guess it's a great story for tv purposes. But if you're legitimately tough, have dynamite in your fists, and good coaching, you'll do okay in this brutal sport!

nope, the judges didn't think anything, they just did what they were told to do.

On the second fight, I saw a guy who was shot to the balls repeatedly and a ref that did not care.

You saw one fight, most of the people saw another fight when the watched the first fight.

By the way, I love your avatar!

That's a heck of theory. I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would push Ward over Kovalev when the latter is the more popular fighter with a bigger fan base. I thought Ward was the winner but honestly would've had no problem with Kovalev getting the nod. There were one or two low blows, one at the end of the fight. The ref probably thought Kovalev was faking how badly he was hurt by the low blows so he ignored it. Imagine if the ref stopped the action to warn Ward for low blows in the middle of him going for the KO. It might have given Kovalev plenty of time to recover. Some people seem to ignore that Kovalev's was folded over sitting on the ropes.

                Thanks!

Rocnation is the reason for the judging of the first fight and the reason Ward got paid more despite Kovalev being more of a draw. There was another 'robbery' earlier on in the card for the house guy.

"Imagine if the ref stopped the action to warn Ward for low blows in the middle of him going for the KO."

..the referee would have been doing his job? The ref should actually have stopped the action, taken a point from Ward and given Kovalev the required recovery time afforded a low blow (remember the referee had already given Ward a warning for an earlier low blow). That is precisely what should have happened instead of the **** show of corruption or incompetence we got from Tony Weeks.

Now Ward has retired and there wasn't a clean, non-controversial result from the 2 fights which sucks for a boxing fan like myself. I thought Kovalev won the first fight due to his early work but Ward was on his way to winning the second fight (probably not by stoppage but you never know).

Weeks was atrocious in Kov/Ward 2 and a fight should never, ever be stopped after an illegitimate, illegal blow and if it is, then it's a DQ for whoever committed the fight ending foul or a No Contest.
