You make it sound like he was fighting nobodies to get to the top and then took a break. He had just defeated Trinidad, makes plenty of sense (to me) to let people come to him after dispatching a fighter of Trinidad's caliber. Hopkins is the most tested elite fighter in the sport today, he gave Taylor two shots to beat him convincingly and Taylor still couldn't do it.(Not only that, but he had Taylor holding on for dear life because he was dazed from a Hopkins' straight right counter in round 11 in that first fight, I'll never forget how Jermain hugged for his life, hurt to the point where he was unable to stand and fight with a man 20 years his senior)
