Comments Thread For: De La Hoya on McGregor: It Took Mayweather 10, I Only Need 2!

Earlier this week, headlines were made around the world when six division world champion Oscar De La Hoya called for a fight with UFC superstar Conor McGregor. The CEO of Golden Boy Promotions has been out of the ring since getting battered and stopped by Manny Pacquiao in the fall of 2008. The 44-year-old Hall of Famer was highly critical of Floyd Mayweather's August fight with the UFC superstar, who was making his professional debut in boxing. Fighting at 154-pounds and using 8-ounce gloves, McGregor started well but eventually gassed out and was stopped in the tenth round of the fight.

i thought oscar was an hypocrite for calling mcgregor to fight canelo and then bashing his fight with floyd. but him wanting to fight the irishman doesn't sound hypocritical to me, the dude hasn't had a fight in almost a decade, and he would be fighting vs an active and young "fighter" (if you can call that to an MMA guy)

Actually MMA requires training in multiple martial arts; whereas, boxing is one-dimensional. In other words, boxing only existing in the world of boxing. If you put a boxer in a world where all martial arts are permitted the boxer would look very simplistic.
