His last fight and the fight against Canelo. Cotto is more consistent on his offense and fighting on the backfoot, and with his power being stronger than Brooks or even Thurman's he might beat him on points, where Spence is too gunshy to actually push Cotto like what Margarito did.

It would have been a hell of a fight if it was prime Cotto.... this version will not beat the young lion IMO

Prime Cotto clearly beats everyone in the division but Cotto of now I will favor him still against everyone.

Agreed, Spence is too young, too big and too strong for this version of Cotto. Spence by a competitive UD for me in a good action fight.

It's a good fight, but Spence in a close fight, a pimp (Cotto) can't beat a lion (Spence)

That's your opinion but I don't agree. I think Spence would beat a prime Cotto and I am pretty sure he can spot Cotto some weight and beat him today. Cotto has slipped some since his great losing effort to Canelo and he can't fight as well now as he could then. That is probably why his last two fights have been cherry picks in my opinion. He is fighting a welterweight who was KOed by Vargas. That is not a good fight to end his career on unless he just wants to be certain his last fight is a win. I haven't checked the odds but I imagine Cotto is at least a 10 to 1 favorite. If he was fighting Spence I think he would be the underdog.

I just checked the odds and Cotto is a -1429 favorite to win. In other words you must bet $1429 on Cotto to win $100 if Cotto wins. Cotto is expected to win because it's a cherry pick against a smaller boxer who isn't in his class. That would not be the case if he was fighting Spence but he wisely chose not to fight Spence for his retirement fight.

I think Cotto is a little too seasoned at this point in his career, a prime Cotto, that would be a different story, but I think Spence's youth gets him the W.

spence would have beat the **** out of cotto, prime or non prime. I keep hearing how much of a monster he was in his prime but all i can see is someone who got the crap beat out of him by a limitied margarito and a much smaller pacquiao. Or was he suddnely 'past prime' in his late 20's to fit an agenda that he was some great fighter...

I guess Spence is gunshy compared to Margarito but let's be honest the head of the NRA is gunshy compared to Marg. Spence does have good stamina and pressures with speed and power though, I would expect a 50/50 fight for the first 6 rounds and then youth/freshness/stamina sees Spence pull out the W. Brook was hurt by Spence's power but he also struggled with his intensity the longer the fight went and Cotto would too at this point.
