Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Believes Cotto Will Remain Retired After Ali Fight

Oscar De La Hoya understands as well as anyone what it's like for a boxer to consider coming out of retirement. The former six-division champion has flirted with that idea numerous times since his last fight a stunningly one-sided, technical-knockout loss to smaller underdog Manny Pacquiao in December 2008. Just this week, the 44-year-old De La Hoya discussed returning to fight UFC superstar Conor McGregor in a boxing match.

Nobody cares. He's already retired as far as most of us are concerned. UFC 218 is a great card.

Well Cotto did express to the public in an emotional way that he missed a lot of important birthdays and events within his family...

Not sure how fatherhood can be replaceable with more fights when Cotto has proven enough to be an ATG Puerto Rican fighter.

        Margacheato, Pac catch...

Cotto mades some wrong moves in his career, but that was nature of Top Rank affiliation...hell in even Pacquiao learned the hard with Top Rank as well even though he is Top Ranks best revenue accomplishment...

People who have scorned Cotto for being a diva in recent years should appreciate that he only became a diva after learning the hardest way possible (though the first Margarito fight and the Pac catchweight), that it was Miguel Cotto's responsibility to look out for Miguel Cotto. He could rely on no one else to do that for him.

cotto doesnt seem like the type to be looking for fame, and he seem to be doing well with what he's made thruout his career, so yes, i do believe cotto wil stay retired.

I agree. The great thing about Cotto is that he has his own and evolved signature style. He is a bonafide Puerto Rican ATG. Fought everybody.
