Great, already we can hear the prognostications that unification bouts between countrymen are not desirable, especially if you're both Russian.
Really, Russian is a synecdoche, in other words, it describes a group of incredibly diverse sub-groups. Tatar's, Magyar's, and on and on. If Russia was split according to true tribal ethnic membership then the country would resemble pre-German unification, with something like 300 principalities, duchies, municipalities etc.
If America is the mecca of boxing, then why bother with patriotism. America is a business, not a nation. I could understand hostility between Ukranian and Russian, Crimean Tatar v Russian, Uzbek v Kazakh, but Russian vs Russian? it's a misnomer.

Bivol is the guy. He beats beterbiev and kovalev any day. Kovalev 's midriff is proven suspect and bivol can hit body intensely. Beterbiev showed terrible vulnerability against Jeff page. He hit canvas so easily. He appears monster when he fights lesser fighters. You ll be surprised when he meets a good guy. Bivol has power, calculation, speed, accuracy. He is the guy. Watch

Russia is also a big country, but they don't have as many top boxers, so it is more rare, and less normal, for them to fight each other.

Given that in a perfect world, boxers from the same country might prefer to fight someone from another country instead of their own, why not accommodate these light heavyweights and start off the tournament with Russia vs America in every bracket? It seems to help the promotion and ticket sales sometimes too, plus it allows for a mash of styles.

So why not do that? Then, if all Americans win, or all Russians win, it's inevitable they fight each other, but if one of each keeps advancing every round, then you can keep repeating it that way.

So why not start off with Kovalev vs Jack? I guess Jack isn't American either but anyway. Why not Kovalev vs Jack? Gvozdyk vs Browne (oh yeah he ducked... which has proven the problem with this idea in the past. The American Al Haymon boxers always duck the Russian ones. But I can at least suggest a good idea!).

          Kovalev vs Jack
          Bivol vs Barrera
          Beterbiev vs Stevenson
          Gvozdyk vs Ward
          Joe Smith injury replacement

winners fight. Etc. Why not do it that way?
Didn't Ponomarev duck Errol Spence Jr.? Didn't Povetkin pop for PEDs when he had a chance to fight Wilder? Didn't Jacobs fight Pirog?

So Ryabinsky says here that he's friends with Kovalev, yet he has never invested anything into him? With his resources he could have easily won the pursebid for Kovalev vs Stevenson

I think Beterbiev will get exposed at the highest level, but his power and style will always make him dangerous.

Bivol passes the eye test. He hasn't fought anyone of note, but he has handled them the way he should. Very sharp, well-rounded, efficient and can punch. Premature to give him too much praise, but I bet you he will live up to it.

Nail? The guy is a killer and has a fine resume already at this stage as a contender. Chilemba is a great measuring stick, and nobody has or could do what Nail did to him. Kovalev barely squeaked by as did Alvarez. On a lesser note, who else do you think butchers Gonzalez the way he did? Nail needs a better foil for you maybe, but most people can see the guy is for real already.
