Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua-Deontay Wilder: Better Together

By Tris Dixon - There was a time when fighting men were fighting men, and they did what they were both supposed to do and what they were paid to do. Fight. It seems as though it should be so simple. Yet when the demand is high, the suppliers – or fighters in our case – do not focus on the fight any longer. It becomes who is the A-side and who is the B? Who gets the left hand-side of the poster? Whose name goes first? Who makes the first ringwalk? Who selects the gloves? Who gets the bigger locker-room?...

I want the fight to happen but I disagree with this article where it says they are worth more together. Obviously that's the case for wilder but Arguably there's 2-3 bigger pay days out there for josh than wilder. But from a competitive standpoint this is the best fight to be made right now.

Honestly, I dont give af about splits.
I do care that all fighters get paid great. I just want to see all the combinations of the best fighting the best. If I get to see a Ortiz,Wilder,Fury,Joshua,Parker all fighting each other at least once. I wouldn't care about who I liked more honestly. Just enjoy and respect.

I honestly feel there is a paid agenda on the US reporting side since this whole call-out nonsense started... I really want this fight to happen and think it could go either way, but to suggest Wilder can make anywhere close to what Joshua can if they don't fight each other is genuinely laughable.

Wilder keeps talking about "smoking them out"... but if Hearn went on the offensive and actually put Joshua fights on in big Vegas shows next year then Joshua really would be a mega star in America by end of 2018.

In terms of what they bring to the table, Joshua is undeniably the A-side and doesn't need to do it for the money... Wilder is chasing this HARD cause it'll be like a lottery win for him, and I'm sure he genuinely believes he can spark Joshua out too to be fair.

I hope the fight gets made, but there is a lot of misleading reporting coming out the States on this...

what i don't get is..why is wilder calling out A.j numerous times when he knows he won't take less than 50% split which was going to be the most likely case..it doesn't make sense..guess it was all noise..he wants to back out by wanting 50%..the logical ask in the u.k is 60/40 55/45 in favor of the A-side Joshua..if he really wants it he will take either of those two split or then its just talk..stop overpricing yourself cuz you hold a belt..meanwhile as a fan I don't give a damn as long as the fight gets made...that's top priority..50% or not.. just make the goddamn fight

I agree with you wholeheartedly but the writer of this article is actually British, he used to edit boxing news.

But the facts are wilder and Joshua aren't in the same league right now in terms of earning potential. Josh needs this fight for his legacy but financially he can take it or leave it.

IF Wilder never fights Joshua ,he will have the worst resume in history .

IF Joshua never fights Wilder ,ppl will say Wilder avoided a train wreck.

In short Wilder is fooked either way but no one (at least credible fans ) will look at his resume without Joshua and say he fought anyone .

But Joshua is doing in and around a million pay-per-view buys in the UK. He has sold out two huge outdoor stadiums in consecutive fights...
...fighting pensioners and bums and why Hearn isn't going to put him in with Wilder anytime soon. Another five years of fleecing dumb Brits.

I would be thrilled to see this fight happen, but the best place for it to happen is in the U.K, where AJ will fill out the biggest stadia available, high PPV no.'s..the only problem is showing the fight at a reasonable time in the states..

I get the distinct feeling Wilder is going to dance around committing to this fight, not because he is scared, but because his team knows they need to gain more leverage in negotiations..at the moment AJ is the golden boy.
