So Wilder didn't sign because Hearn broke his promise about the fight being next.
    LIAR!

The contract was for a fight in Sept/Oct this year. Hearn would never have got a delay on a mando to negotiate a unification fight for a whole year after the mando was ordered.

The April 2019 date only became necessary because wilder didn't sign the contract and the WBA ordered AJ to fight Povetkin next without any more delays.

Hearn kept telling Finkel the date would be Oct/Nov, but nothing in the contract reflected what Hearn was saying. When Hearn finally gave Finkel a date, it was April because Hearn admitted they decided to fight Povetkin first.

Hearn got extensions while he negotiated with both sides (Wilder and Povetkin) and was under no obligation to fight Wilder just because he'd been given extensions. After pushing Wilder & Povetkin's sides as far as he could, he made the choice to fight Povetkin first. Which is his right.

But you can't say "why didn't Wilder sign?!?" when he never ever had the opportunity to sign for a fight in Oct/Nov. Hearn never sent a contract that reflected the fight being next. He sent a contract with a blank date and said give me a few days. When the few days were up, he admitted he'd decided to fight Povetkin first.

          No excuses for what?

The WBA delayed ordering Hearn to finalise AJ vs Povetkin because he was trying to make the unification fight with Wilder next .. as in, this year .. as in not April 2019. Get it?

There are plenty of idiots at this place who post rubbish because they are .. idiots.

There are others, like you, who post rubbish because they are liars.

Yes, Hearn told Finkel the contract was for a fight in Oct/Nov this year.

He told the WBA the same thing.

          And Povetkin's promoter.

Do you know what would have happened if Wilder had signed the contract - which he had every opportunity to do - and sent it back to Hearn?

One of two alternatives .. either AJ and Wilder would have fought each other next, just like Hearn said ... or Hearn would have lost his promoters licence and been facing multiple law suits from all concerned.

Hearn didn't just "decide" to fight Povetkin next. Wilder decided not to sign the contract and the WBA ordered Joshua to sign a contract with Povetkin within 24 hours or be stripped of the WBA title.

WBA President: "The WBA have allowed over a month extension to negotiations with Povetkin and also ongoing discussions with Deontay Wilder."

"It appears the Wilder team have not returned the contract for the fight and therefore we are requesting a date for the Joshua versus Povetkin fight with immediate effect."

wilder never had a chance to sign for a 2018 fight.

              • I used to be a Joshua fan until he and Hearn started all those bogus offers. It is obvious they don't want the fight.

I have seen comments posted by you admitting that fight contracts don't always have a date or venue when first signed.

The contract Wilder was sent didn't have a date or venue because Hearn was working against a deadline set by the WBA and needed Wilder's signature fast.

After telling Finkel that the contract was for a fight this year, and telling the WBA the same thing, and publically telling fans and journalists that the fight would be AJ's next, Hearn could not have switched that to April 2019 without voiding the contract and getting himself in a world of trouble.

So Wilder most definitely did have a chance to sign for a 2018 fight, but he didn't take it.

"It appears the Wilder team have not returned the contract for the fight and therefore we are requesting a date for the Joshua versus Povetkin fight with immediate effect." Gilberto Mendoza.

Wilder was bluffing when he accepted Hearn's terms and asked for a contract. Hearn called his bluff and Wilder folded, then went back to doing what he's done for his entire career - fighting scrubs and talking garbage on social media.
