First of all, those people didn't understand what Hearn was saying? Who the hell is Djeeontay Woyldar? I bet if he asked those same people if they knew who Anthony Joshua was he would get the same response. Second, New Yorkers don't have time to talk to strangers, that was a courtesy "Leave me alone funny British stranger!" Thirdly, boxing is not as popular on the U.S. as it is every where else. There is like a thousand other sports figures to worship.

a lot more people know joshua in his home country than they do in wilders. lol hearn could have gone to alabama and asked the same question and people there wouldn't know who he is either. its not that boxing isn't popular its wilder the people don't buy him as champ he's a joke.

Are you American? Do you really think boxing is popular here?

But it does highlight one big thing: Wilder isn't promoted well. Today everything needs to be compressed into clips and blurbs no longer than 20 seconds long otherwise we get bored and Wilder's KOs on paper at least should fit that bill but I haven't seen one clip of Wilder's KOs outside of boxing sites. Imgur with its huge user base, clipped every Ron Da Rousey KO and thousands of people saw it. In comparison Wilder has 5 posts on imgur. Wilder has very little social media presence when his fights perfectly fit our ADD society.
I think they have done a terrible job promoting Wilder, if people listen properly to the video and not get emotional about Hearn asking random people who Wilder is, he said “If” he had a HW champion, who looks, talks, fight the way Wilder does he would have gone places with him.... and as much as I dislike Hearn he was saying the absolute truth right there.

The guy knocks people out (I know 99% of those are bums), talks smack, looks good, he is a promoters dream. He should have been a well known HW bringing in massive PPV as the only american HW, which in turn makes fights easier to make with him.

LOL Of course Joshua is less popular in the US. For a Floyd fan, you don't understand money.

AJ and Wilder makes much more money in the UK than the US. AJ is a star here while Wilder is not in the US. They won't sell in the US and PPV sales in the UK will be far less if it was in Vegas since it will be 5 AM here.

This fight won't be PPV in the US if Wilder did 600k and AJ did 300k on Showtime...

****** thing is, Dibella said who is Whyte and asked in this venue do you think people will know who Whyte is...

It was 300k which was terrible, however AJ isn't from the US. In the UK he will sell more PPV (30 dollars) here than Wilder and that's a fact. Wilder made 1.5 Mil... he holds a title and has had 39 fights.

AJ makes more than that easily and has had 20 fights.

This fight for me doesn't sell in the US simply because Wilder is not known very well and AJ isn't either.

I mean the days of Tyson and Holyfield where posters of them would be in barbers are gone.
