Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia Still on Track For January Bout, Hopes it's Linares

WBC lightweight world champion Mikey Garcia (37-0, 30 KOs) has hinted that the negotiations are far advanced for his return on January 27 as part of a Showtime televised card. However, the Mexican-American boxer is deep in negotiations for a unification with WBA champion Jorge Linares and hopes that it falls in that month or around that time period.

This would be an amazing start to 2018. Garcia and Linares both FIGHT. Every time I go to cancel HBO or Showtime to save money, these types of rumors show up on Showtime or a favorite of mine signs up with HBO and I am right back to paying out the cash.

Both camps sound like they are serious. I would be super stoked for this one.

4 reals. I was going to cancel HBO and Showtime but kept them because Wilder vs Ortiz and Berchelt vs Salido. Hopefully this fight gets made. It's getting expensive.

Almost all of HBO's big fights are on pay-per-view, you can cancel HBO without missing out on much if you're the type to watch PPVs and not wait for the tape delay.

But Showtime is absolutely essential for any US boxing fan. Almost every US world champion is fighting on Showtime.

Fricken love hearing this.If we get this WILDER VS Joshua and Thruman vs Spence in 2018? Boxing will be much more revalent in 2019. It will make 2017 look like crap and all 3 are poss. Plus GGG v Canelo 2 in may(no later)

It goes to show that the whims of a single TV executive or higher up can dramatically change the landscape of any sport. Les Moonves loves boxing and sometimes that's all it takes.

Instead of resorting to childish insults, if you disagree with something we wrote, why don't you discuss it with us like a civilized adult?
