AJ's weight seems to be a hinderance. He's a bit lumbering, stiff, poor stamina. I really think the man could stand to drop 10 but I doubt that will happen. Weight will only become harder for him to manage, along with stamina.
I think Wilder is trained properly but getting those long ass limbs to move fluidly can't be easy, so he has that weird combo of athleticism but also a bit clumsy. Something he does need to work on but in the heat of the moment it can be tricky, that is usually when he trips himself up is when he gets aggressive.

If he is focused on his boxing he doesn't get in his own way near as much

The reason I say, and have said for years, that he gets poor training is that they don't correct him on his wide stance. His legs get so far apart. I'm a tall guy and it's one of the first things my coach corrected in me was letting your feet get wide. It turns an asset into a liability by limiting your movement and completely putting you off balance.

That's what I see every time I watch Wilder (save for the 1st Stiverne fight) a guy who is getting too wide in his stance and becoming off balance.

Yea it puts your foot in a bucket, but Wilder needs to be planted to generate power. It could be part of his secret formula to monster power and changing that up would really take his best assets away (obviously I don't know for sure).

He obviously is not what you call a text book fighter and sometimes trying to change that sort of dude too much is a big mistake because they will never be textbook.

I think Breland has done a pretty damn good job with Wilder though and brought him along nicely, so that is why I can't say he has poor training. It might just be a fundamental issue with his style, which will limit him but changing it is even worse.

Wilder's weight is NOT a disadvantage in the heavyweight division. He's actually perfectly built for the division. He's not carrying excess weight that in all likelihood would slow him down and compromise his endurance. The weight he's at allows him to be quicker on his feet and to fight at long range,...which is ideally suited to him. He don't need anymore fat or muscle. He just needs to sharpen his skills and fight game plan. Joshua is more skilled than Wilder and that's the main reason I think he would beat Deontay.

I think Joshua would be lighter than 250 if he fought Wilder. The heavier weight won't necessary help against Wilder. Either way, it will be tough fight for each of them no matter the weight.

I say Wilder.Joshua need to get back down to 240-45 to much lifting his stamina is REAL bad now. That last fight was fought at HIS pace all night(which means big deal as anyone who has been in ring knows)He was able to take little breaks WHEN ever he wanted and he still gassed.I think that was his worst fight since before Whyte.

That's true even with Joshua's stamina he will be REAL live early.

Agreed! I keep hearing all these things said about his legs. If you notice in the last sparing, he crouches a little bit so even if he gets tagged, the effect will translate across both his thighs and his legs, which I think will reduce the impact. Wilder can be disciplined as we have seen from time to time, although he gets lazy and sloppy at other times. However, for a 6'7" guy, he is very agile.

Wilder is unorthodox in his style but is not as ****** as many people try to make it. Further, people complain about everything about him - the funniest one for me is that his power is not coming from the right place because of his technique. I am like - if a guy is knocking people out without the "right" technique, what then will he do when he applies it?

There is no perfect fighter out there! I think Wilder will be just fine. I'd rather he gained maybe 5 - 10 pounds at most (i.e. stay around the 225 - 230 lbs range), but he might just grow into it.

If there are a few things to work on, it is on his defense. 1. He moves his head backward on a straight path sometimes to evade the shots because he is taller than most, but it will be best to move it down, or side to side and move his feet as well.

                    2. When he puts his hands together to block shots, he does not put the hands together tightly enough like a Stiverne will do.

                    3. Sometimes when people jab at him, he pushes their hands down as he moves backward. If he deals with someone of equal or longer reach, he might get caught with a right hand. I saw in his most recent media workout, he is countering that now with a right hand which is better instead of just pushing down on the jab.

Joshua is not more skilled than Wilder. Joshua looks better in technique than Wilder - that's it. Wilder has the better jab, Wilder has the stronger and better right hand (worse case equal for both of them), Wilder is more mobile, Wilder moves his head better, Wilder fights better on the back foot, will say they are equal on the front foot (position 1) although I may give AJ more credit for that since he prefers positions 1 and 2 better than Wilder does.

Joshua prefers to fight from the medium range (position 2) to inflict pain on his opponents. Wilder prefers to fight in the farther range (i.e. position 3, with 1 being the closest). Joshua has better combos, better uppercut, holds his facial defense better.

So, how is Joshua more skilled then?
