will wilder fight a legitimate opponent in 2018?

Wilder was a bad cherry picking champion before but he is trying to change that. He tried to fight dangerous and very legitimate top contender Ortiz but that fell through not because of anything wrong Wilder did. It was his choice to fight Ortiz. He doesn't want to fight Stiverne but the WBC ordered him to do so or lose his championship. Be fair to Wilder and put the blame on the WBC for him fighting Stiverne next. It's not Wilder's fault. I am confident Wilder will fight a legitimate opponent in 2018. He tried hard to fight Ortiz and no other heavyweight out there appears to be a more dangerous or legitimate opponent than Ortiz.

It all depends on whether his handlers really want to cash him out vs AJ in 2018. That would be his first and last dangerous opponent. If not, then i see this chump feasting on bums till 2020.

If GGG's best opponents failed drug tests I'd blame GGG for it and I'd call him a cherry picker for picking marginal substitutes. So I'm not a hypocrite.

He should take that fight in my opinion. I don't blame him if he wants to bypass it for Joshua. But if he doesn't fight Whyte next for that money and fights some other non-factor then he deserves all the criticism in the world. Like all the other heavyweights without a title outside of say maybe an Ortiz, Whyte hasn't really shown anything to distance himself from the other contenders, he just happens to have a promoter with money

Even if Wilder is a coward (which I don't believe he is) he'd get paid so much more for facing Joshua than he has for his entire bum slaying career combined.

Yeah the voluntary run of Molina -> Duhaupas -> Szpilka was pretty bad

I'd say the run of opponents he's had since then has been marginally better, but of course this is in the context of two quality opponents who have failed tests and one mandatory defense.
