Ortiz was mandated, he only had to wait upon the IBF mandatory being fulfilled and he'd have got his shot. Tell me what month did Hearn sign Ortiz, I recall AJ having one defence lined up four months before he actually fought his first defence and then the Klitschko fight presented itself a huge fight that broke ppv records in the UK and sold 90k seats! So yeh I guess you're right, he ducked Ortiz to face Klitschko in a fight he could retire off of ! Go figure.

Every boxing fan wants Wilder v Joshua, but Eddie has done everything possible to downplay the validity of the fight. When you support that BS, you're only supporting Eddie the promoter, not boxing, not the fans.
He's a sleaze promoter just like Aram, Oscar, White, etc.

He hasn't fought in two years with nothing on the horizon. Fighters don't keep that status forever, there are two top guys he needs to see and if those guys see each other first then Fury is nothing but an ugly bad memory.

If he managed to come back after that (current Tyson Fury sized IF) he would have a claim to have a right to the crown but he would have to fight the winer.

I somewhat agree yet when Wlad was lineal I saw it as prestigious, not so much now it's been devalued with the failed PED testing of Fluff Furry but I'd feel a hyprocrite if we weren't to call him the champion.

Wilder wants to face AJ for no other reason other than why everyone else in the division wants to, not because he's the man but because he's the money man, this has nothing to do with legacy or anything else, Wilder already had a shot to unify versus Wlad when the WBC were encouraging it as soon as he collected the belts January 2015, this is all to do with earning more more than ten times more than he does for any other fight with his usual defences.

I disagree. He got paid huge $ for the damages in the Povetkin fight. Besides, he was offered over $4 mill to fight that bum Whyte, which is EASYYY money and opted to make MUCHHH less fighting Ortiz, who's much more dangerous than Whyte. Wilder just wants to prove himself and show he's the best in the Div.

He is inactive, you can't hide out inactive in boxing and maintain that level of status. You normally get 1 year, he is pushing 2 and it will be longer. So no heavyweight has no champ right now.

Yea Fury will have a certain high level when he comes back and basically jump the line but he is not the man anymore.

Why dont AJ just give up the belt if Hearn doesn't want to fight Wilder? He can do whateverbhe wants then. It would take a year alone for Fury to get back into shape and he probably would want a tune up. I dont see how that fight is even logical at this point. Wilder is more popular than Takam because you have to be popular to fight AJ lmao. He could have just fought Wilder in December instead of Takam.

Excellent post. I like AJ but come on fury is fresh out of Drug rehab!!! He has to get into shape, he will need a tune up like you stated. It's foolish too think Fury can be in full form in a reasonable time. And plus will Fury be mentally stable. Not to mention fury doesn't have a belt!!! Wilder is already in shape, he has a belt and if Wilder is easy work then take him out and take his belt! This is an excuse not to fight him.

On what planet is AJ vs Fury bigger than AJ vs Wilder? Fury's a fat, inactive, on again off again, psycho, drugging, semi-suicidal carnival freak. It's a guarantee that boxing fans in the UK know who Wilder is. Hell, they sold out for AJ vs Kubrat Pulev. A Wilder fight would do at least that well, but more likely even better. Hearn clearly wants to milk his new cash cow before putting him against Wilder. I think AJ starches Wilder, but I can see how they'd want to get Joshua more fights, more notoriety and more cash before making that potentially tough & risky fight.

That is not how boxing works, you can't just sit on the sidelines and hold the championship hostage, the sport moves on and passes the person sitting on the sideline by.

The sport has passed Fury on he is as irrelevant to the current picture as Muhammed Ali is.

I have felt that Hearn has desired to delay a unification with Wilder in order to get a Joshua Fury fight for a while. I don't blame him...promoters are in it for the money. Fans should call it for what it is though.
