Shane may have looked phenomenal at 135lb but did not have the level of opposition in my opinion to judge his talents. It wasn't until his first fight with
De La Hoya that he really stepped up and showed us. Perhaps the rise in weight eventually affected his performances but he also had a increase in competition as well. I think he would have done well against Spence but Spence in my opinion is still unproven. Sure he looks spectacular but knockouts can be deceiving. When a puncher destroys a fighter, we think, wow he is really "that good". Time will tell and maybe Spence will come through, but right now it is hard to tell where he is.
You make a fair point but Shane did fight solid competition at 135. Jesse James Leija, John John Molina, Holiday. And aside from Holiday, which was a relatively tough fight, he absolutely obliterated these guys. You could certainly judge his talents in those fights, on the back of the Molina and Leija wins Mosley was named 1998 fighter of the year by the BWA. Mosley was an absolute beast at 135, a ferocious combination of speed and power. The best version of Mosley was definitely at lightweight. I agree there's not enough evidence yet of Spence in top level fights in order to make a fair comparison.
I think Spence will prove to be an exceptional welterweight. Mosley lost twice to Forrest and I think he would lose to Spence. I don't think Spence has peaked yet and he will continue to improve his skills.

Especially when Johsnton and Mayweather(who was at 130 that Mosley asked to meet him) wanted no parts of him.
