I like Chino, I think his switch of trainers is probably one of the most beneficial trainer switches that I've ever seen in the sport, we've seen a lot of fighters change trainers over the years and more than 99% of the time it doesn't benefit the fighter at all as the problem isn't really the trainer, but the fighter himself.
In Chino's case though it was different, Robert Garcia took him coming off a loss and at probably the lowest point in his career and still managed to teach him the fine fundamentals of the sport that Chino never really learned as he taught himself how to fight and it immediatley stepped his game up several levels, when I saw him fight Khan I never thought that I'd see the day where Chino would be outjabbing the best fighter in the world and slipping and blocking a lot of his punches, but he did and for that dedication and determination to be better and the will to win, I respect him a lot.
I think we never got to see the best of him though, would've loved to see him fight the other top welterweights like Thurman, Porter, Garcia, not Spence though because he'd get stopped, but against all these other guys these fights would've been for the ages.Comment
