“My thoughts are that UFC is desperate,” Arum told Michael Woods..About a year ago, I was approached by someone repping UFC, they wanted to buy Top Rank.”
So they are so desperate they have enough money to buy out Top Rank? That's a bit of an oxymoron Bob, like you. Dana White and Co are so rich they bought up all the competition and now run a monopoly.
Dana White is also full of it. I've heard they have a salary cap of $3 million maximum per fighter and the fighters have to sign over their lives to the UFC.
However, anything which is put next to boxing looks better because boxing is a farce.
I'd rather see boxers fighting under one umbrella, but it'll never happen.Comment

LOL, that is very true. That old joke about two half-naked men chasing each other around a ring fighting over a leather belt is applied tenfold to two guys in budgie smugglers hugging each other to near death.Comment

Dana will do boxing better than TR, GBP, Matchroom etc...he actually listens to the fans and knows how to put on good shows. He deserves the highest praise for how he dragged MMA from an obscure sport in the early 90s to a global brand. Nothing but love for White.Comment

And then underpays the hell out of them?Comment

Right message, wrong messenger.
Dana is a POS, just not on the same POS level as Arum. Not quite yet.Comment

I have to admit that the UFC model is a very good product.
But I find Dana White a complete c**t of a personality.Comment

You must not know a damn thing about boxing! Dana White ****s all his fighters out of money. You think people don't know that?
How the **** is he gonna do better than Bob Arum, Oscar, Al Haymon when everyone knows they aren't gonna make nearly as much money with him as they would anywhere else??Comment

I love when Dana erupts at Arum...I'm sure the writers do too, that's probably why they keep bringing up Arum to Dana. Both rep'd for truth telling.
It's really difficult to not agree with Dana White on this one.
Arum is just hating, and worried that White will start making meaningful fights, and hurt his business.
White got his start in boxing, loves the sport, and just made a sh/t ton of money promoting a boxing event.
If he wants to test the market, who cares?
This is America, Dana White can make money for his company however he wants, and if fighters start signing with him, so be it.
I am a boxing guy, def not UFC, but what's wrong with a promoter that will def make the best fights possible, nothing.
Dana's only problem is he won't be able to lure boxers with those slave contracts the UFC pumps out, they will have to approach the sport with a different business model or they will attract ZERO talent.Comment
