this isn't roy jones. it's andre ward. he wins rough and tumble. his schtick would never work agaisnt a HW, never mind 245 lb joshua.
same way he beat kovalev. magic

This is a seriously astute form of trolling. Put a whacky statement out there knowing full well you're going to have the Kigali's and 1hourrun's of the world backing you up. I don't even have to read this thread and I know they'll be running with it like a one-eyed downs syndrome kid with a chew toy.

I don't know what weight Ward would need to be to be more durable against Joshua. Also, if Joshua is able to keep pumping his jab for more than 4 or 5 rounds it would be difficult for Ward to get inside his reach. Ward can do it but don't let the Takam fight confuse you into thinking it would be easy. Takam and Ward are two different fighters stylistically.

people saw joshua's style mesh with a cautious fighter with a solid amateru background and good pro experience and who moved, and now they think ward can beat him

none of these guys even gave takam a round! yet based off of what happened, when a guy with a good 50 lbs over ward, and who would give up a good 60 lbs to joshua [all muscle and bone, not fat,] they think ward has a shot!

what you saw was a clash of styles. joshua still won every round and learned a good deal about what to do next time.

yes, in the past, smaller guys have had early success against bigger gys, and have even won in the past. joshua's not only HW, he's a true super HW with about 11" of reach, and between 50-75 lbs bigger without being soft anywhere on his body.

ward's not james toney, who had legitimate power at 160-175 and could hurt HW if he teed off on them. he's fast, but he's not an athletic freak like jones who coupled freakish physical gifts with his intelligence and his reflexes. ward wins by getting dirty, wearing opponents down, clinching, boxing from the outside. virtually none of his schtick will work against a guy who is 50 lbs heavier and half a foot taller, unless the guy is a pleb.

believe me, if ward thought he could come out of retirementand beat joshua he would. it would be one of the biggest paydays in boxing, catapult him into genuine superstardom, and string together a few of the genuinely massive paydays he thinks he is worth

He could. But hes way too small. He just started filling out at 175 and looked like thats the biggest he should be. I dont even know how he would look at around 200 pounds he would have to be way too bulked up. Aj is just way too big he would just maul him i doubt ward could hurt him with his hardest shot.

Hes just way too small , he would be like a little boy in there.
