Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua: I Don't Have Control Over The Referee's Decision

Anthony Joshua was forced to overcome pain and suspected injury to retain his world heavyweight titles. The Finchley puncher kept hold of his WBA Super, IBO and IBF crowns with a 10th round stoppage of Carlos Takam, who took the fight on just 12 days' notice, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Joshua suffered a potential broken nose in just the second round, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office, and was forced to fight through pain and hurt before the referee Phil Edwards had seen enough and called a halt to proceedings after a minute and 34 seconds of the round.

Takam lost every single round in that fight, but Joshua was slowing down bad and there were 2 rounds left. It would've been interesting to see what happens. But this ref was clearly a Joshua fan and had money on Joshua because he kept trying to stop this fight at every chance.

Honestly thought josh was gonna win by stoppage when takam kept taking punches but josh was gassing and takam could've taken advantage. Terrible stoppage imo

He's just saying that to cover his tracks because he bet on himself to stop Takam in the 10th.

I am sure the ref is eating a good steak dinner tonight with a bottle of fine wine for his work for team Joshua.

Thats funny considering only the reff is supposed to call break, yet AJ himself called break after the accidental headbutt.

If thats not control over the refferee i dont know what is, regardless even if he doesnt, Eddie Hearn certainly does.

Damn I didn't even notice, I don't wanna say the ref was bought without concrete evidence but his ******ity favored joshua a lot, he let him take some BIG breaks to recover his stamina

                    Well, Takam just headbutted him...

                    Luckily he wasn't ejected.
