Was anyone else very underwhelmed by GGG vs canelo?

Dont get me wrong it was a good fight. But it wasnt what it was all cracked up to be for the past 2 years. Both fighters only landed a couple really hard blows throughout the whole fight. Canelo literally spent the majority of the fight backing up avoiding exchanges then occasionally threw a combo. GGG looked hesitant and sluggish.

It just didnt live up to the hype, was supposed to be one of the best fights in recent years wasnt even the best fight of the year. Im not even hyped for the rematch.

For a great fight to happen someone atleast has to get stunned, then come back and stun the other guy. Back and forth action but with Canelo backpeddaling and making GGG miss it just never happened.

Canelo could never hurt GGG and GGG could never land anything significant to hurt Canelo
Nobody got hurt or was in any danger, the result being an underwhelming fight.

When does a PPV fight ever live up to the hype though? The only one in recent times is May/Mac and that's just because of how low expectations were for it.

When the top guys in boxing fight each other, I never expect an entertaining fight, it's pretty rare. I still can't believe that people were upset that Mayweather vs Pacquiao wasn't some toe to toe slugfest.

It was a great fight, the reason why it wasn't exciting for some people is because both of those guys have iron chins and it's hard for them to hurt each other. If they had average chins both of them would get rocked at some point and there would be some knockdowns and the dynamic of the fight would change.

Exactly. They want the top guys fighting each other then get mad when they are equally skilled. To get the great “exciting” fights you need one to be much better than the other...:i for one thought it was a great fight. But I was impressed by Canelo. He showed me another side

Personally I never find a fight between two highly skilled fighters boring. Even if there is not much going on it's still interesting to see how the fighters move and feint and try to set up or avoid things. I even liked to watch Klitschko vs Fury for example. When it's high level boxing there's always something to see if you know what you're watching.
