Kovalev controlled the inside well vs Ward under legal boxing rules. The only things that gave Kovalev trouble were his own stamina at 33/34 years old, which was a problem vs Chilemba as well before he even fought Ward, and Ward's fouling, like headbutts and low blows. Kovalev still proved the better fighter in both fights, with Byrd likely saving roided up Ward in the rematch (those roids make you stronger early, but fade late. Byrd knew that and saved Ward), but his stamina was clearly his major achilles heel, not "inside fighting." I don't understand how any boxing fan can credit Ward's "inside fighting" for tiring Kovalev out when number one, Kovalev gassed badly against Chilemba the fight before fighting Ward, and Chilemba doesn't fight inside at all, and number two, Kovalev started to tire in both Ward fights before Ward could even get close enough to start working the body (i.e. Ward's ability to hit Kovalev's body came as a result of Kovalev slowing down by himself, not vice versa), and number three, Ward is terrible at fighting inside, and only knows how to clinch, foul, and hold with one arm while punching with the other.

It's really time boxing fans learned the difference between "great inside boxer" and "protected American star who is allowed to cheat in every fight by corrupt referees while his opponents are not, giving the false impression he possesses an advantage in skills when in reality, all he possesses is an advantage in being allowed to utilize MMA moves that his opponents are not allowed to use." Stop being such a casual fan and simply believing whatever Max Kellerman tells you, and watch the fights for yourself, see what is actually happening in that ring. Roberto Duran was a great inside fighter. What Andre Ward is is a protected cheater whose actual skills, whether inside or outside, are extremely inflated by referees allowing him to literally cheat in every fight.

It's like how casual fans always said after every Danny Garcia robbery, like over Mauricio Herrera, that Danny Garcia was the most skilled in the sport at "just knowing how to win, just finding ways to win." They were such casual fans, they confused being a protected boxer who benefits from multiple robberies with being an actual skill. That's not a skill, that's called being protected.

That is exactly what you are doing when you talk about Ward. Andre Ward is to referees what Danny Garcia was to judges, pre-Keith Thurman. And obviously, both of them are overrated as a result. Just like Garcia was never actually the best welterweight (or junior welter, for that matter, given that Matthysse would have beaten him, and was beating him, until he got laced in the eye, and given that Terence Crawford is way better than him, and Manny Pacquiao would have kicked his a** at 140 too), Andre Ward was never the best light heavyweight either. Even a declining Kovalev showed he was the better fighter over their 20 rounds in the ring, and Kovalev himself may no longer even be the best at 175, either. It's no mystery why Ward retired without facing Beterbiev, Stevenson, Bivol, etc, just like its no mystery why he ducked every other athletic southpaw like Stevenson in his weight range his entire career, from Bute to Stevenson to Degale. Just face it, he's overrated, although I'll give you one thing, just like Danny Garcia, he's sure "skilled" at knowing how to "win." LOL.

the 2nd fight hr was loosing except for on single blow to the head and many low blows.

Whatever you want to say is alright, deep down inside you know the truth and you feel that pain inside and you will die knowing your fighter was nothing but a dirty cheat.

Enjoy the rest of your day!
LMAO...."S.O.G." pounded kovalev from the 4th round of the 1st fight all the way to the 8th of the 2nd fight.

You can only argue one was low but I don't hear you saying anything about the low blow that kovalev landed....

Loyalty? This is a business. Kovalev treated their relationship like a business so why would you expect loyalty from Jackson?

Sergey was also stiffing JDJ on the money. Agreeing to pay one thing then trying to pay him less after the fight. My momma always told me never quit a job until you got another one lined up. That's what JDJ was doing.

Question is can he build Kovalev back up. He seemed mentally damaged from the Ward losses. Talking about retirement and all that.
