The weight itself is neither here nor there, but its what it represents.

If he had shifted more focus to road work/cardio training rather than resistance training he would have lost weight. If hes coming in heavier it suggests he hasnt.

I don't know who is advising Joshua, someone with a stamina suspect should not be coming in too heavy. I hope they know what they are doing.

It's alright being heavier for the Molina's and Cornish pasties of the world but Takam is no joke. He probably will still win in routine fashion but if it becomes a habit to weigh this high or higher then it will start to become an issue.

He says he's been doing a lot of cardio and that this is a result of him 'filling out' but i'm not so sure

To me this is clearly a case of not feeling the need to train for overall quickness and endurance. He probably plans to use his natural size to overwhelm Takam rather than risk overtraining as he might for Wlad/Wilder/Fury/Haye, etc.

Unfortunately, that may mean he's taking the fight less seriously than others.

If it's 4lbs of muscle, he doesn't need it. If it's 4lbs of simply not having pushed hard enough, then he better watch out if Takam comes out for a long night. As a Heavyweight, he doesn't have to "make weight" so he could easily just be bloated, had some food or well hydrated but in as good a condition he can be in.

This is worrying. Takam has this reputation as a come-forward fighter but if you have watched his fights he has quick in/out movement and can move around when he wants.

Looks like Joshua will try to get him out of there quick expecting Takam to go toe-to-toe....when he's actually much smarter than that, Takam doesn't apply pressure until he is comfortable and works the opponent out. If he can survive past 6 moving and making Joshua miss then the fight is game on.

My bet on a Takam win at 12/1 (why wouldn't you?) is looking better but I still think Joshua could Ko him early if he really goes for it.

He said on Sky this is the first time he's had a chef coming in. Maybe a factor to consider.

Possibly it's to do with the fact that he now has a chef come in to him to prep all he's meals, something he says he's never done before. He's on the watt bike alot, maybe he's gone to that instead of the roadwork. Either way, he doesn't need to get any bigger imo.

It's funny cos Josh looked gassed in the 2nd v Dillian, operating at a lighter weight but then got back on track from the 2nd. Josh also emptied the tank when he smelt blood v Wlad in the 5th - maybe he's coming in heavy to get Takam/Pulev initially out of there early.
