Do people seriously believe Floyd Mayweather Jr could beat Gennady Golovkin at 160?

This is not an evaluation of who is more skilled P4P. Or who would win if they were the same size. Instead, it is about who would actually win at 160 pounds if they actually fought each other.

Floyd Mayweather Jr's skills are definitely at an ATG level. However, there comes a point where someone is simply too big in size, to the point where being more skilled isn't going to be enough to beat them. Not only does one have to be more skilled than that bigger sized opponent, but they have to be more skilled by a significant margin. Irrespective of what some would state by exaggerating, both are elite boxers and neither are significantly more skilled than the other and that slight skill gap (assuming it exists) for Mayweather isn't going to be enough for Mayweather to beat Golovkin due to being much smaller and weaker physically.

If Golovkin could walk through Kell Brook's most powerful punches, a guy who is physically bigger, stronger and more powerful than Floyd Mayweather Jr and could throw and land punches without being discouraged, then Floyd Mayweather simply can't effect GGG enough to deter him.

Canelo Alvarez had the power, size and strength to at least make GGG slightly more cautious from going absolutely berserk. However, if Golovkin could just walk through Mayweather's punches and go beserk on Floyd Mayweather Jr by throwing non - stop power punches, then Floyd Mayweather Jr's skill advantage becomes irrelevant because the bout would no longer be decided by skills.

Who cares?? Floys is a WW... And prime Floyd (who I'm not a fan of), I wouldn't be surprised if he would beat GGG...

No, but then again I don't think Golovkin beats any of the elite light heavies either, so what's the point?

Now, if Gennaddy got down to 154, Floyd would own him.

The mayweather a few years back certainly could and i think he could still pull it off with hard dedication to his craft. Golovkin was missing crazy against canelo, imagine how much he would miss against floyd. And im not a fan of the triangle theory but Mayweather performed way better against alvarez than GGG did.

No **** Floyd's punches wouldn't be enough to deter him, that's not the point. The point is, could Golovkin effectively cut off the ring enough that he can corner Floyd and take him out? Or would Mayweather's usual defensive style be too much for Golovkin to land anything? Sadly, I'd bet on it being the latter.

NO he looked like crap in his last fight . GGG had to respect Canelo's power he doesn't have to respect Floyds

Wrong style up for GGG, you actually need decent speed to land on Floyd
GGG would land none of those big swings in the centre of the ring or the ropes, keep in mind FM is taller than Canelo so he will have no problem potshotting GGG to a clear UD
Skills pay the bills and you need a certain skillset and physical attributes to beat Floyd

Ideally you want Floyd to come to you, since hes shown to be a limited fighter coming forward. Only taller good boxers with decent power/skill can do that.

Fantasy fights aren't my thing but because this fight was plausible to make and they have a common opponent I'll say that the same Floyd that fought canelo would've schooled ggg
