Comments Thread For: Sanchez: Canelo Facing GGG's Leftovers Would Be Sad For Boxing

I wish Abel Sanchez used more respectful language towards Lemieux. Oscar saying Canelo might go after Lemieux is not a good enough reason to call Lemieux 'GGG leftovers'. Lemieux has done nothing wrong, and most boxers lose a fight one day.Comment

Canelo fans would love nothing more than for ggg to fight charlo because there is a risk of ggg losing, and many Canelo fans would prefer not to see the ggg rematch based on how he needed the judges help to escape with a draw. By that same token, those same fans are the ones saying how charlo needs to earn a shot vs canelo because he's only beaten a cripple at mw and are also the same ones who justified Canelo picking the weakest 154 pound champion in beefy Smith instead if either charlo bro last year.Comment

Like some other trainers, when it comes to saying dumb things, Abel is in with elite company--think Angel Garcia, Ruben Guererro, Freddy Roach.Comment

It's about the money. At their level, it is always about the money. The sad fact is that neither Jermell or Jermall is a big draw or any kind of draw for that matter. If they were filling the seats at Madison Square Garden or in Las Vegas the fight with either Canelo or GGG would be made right away. Jacobs should get the winner of GGG v Canelo.
I see ggg retiring after Canelo rematch especially if gets stopped!Comment

If GGG wins a unification with the winner of BJS/Lemieux would probably delay his defence against Charlo again.Comment

I actually agree with everything Abel Sanchez says. The fight is too important to take risks against lesser paying opponents. And like most fans can't wait for the rematch..Comment

What the most they would pay GGG for that fight??? $5-6 million?? No more than $8 And charlo get probably $1.5
Still WAY less than $15,000,000++
You do the math on that...Comment

I think you are right and in addition to the Charlos, there are other good young fighters coming up. Canelo will surely face stiffer competition than GGG did. I am hoping the middleweight division will be the marquee division in a few years.Comment
