Great article! If Castillo just cant make the wt. then he just cant make the damn wt! That fact does NOT make him a coward and to be called one is a ****** and bitter way to handle the fact that the rubber match will never happen. An aricle like this was long overdue.

The fact is, what Castillo did was a direct hit to the sport of boxing....worse than anyone's outside-the-ring behavior.
      Do you really believe that?

Have you heard of some of the things boxers do outside of the ring?
      ****, murder, animal abuse, ectera..

Castillo fails to make weight for a match and that is so much worse than the above? How can you possibly think that?

      Moving on..

From what I've read here.. These are my thoughts on the subject.

It seems to be a good thing that Corrales didn't take the match.
Would you all be happy if he were really hurt afterwards?

I mean, from the people saying that Corrales already kills himself and "drains" himself trying to make weight.
For him to be in that shape and going against a bigger not "drained" fighter (especially one of Castillo's caliber) wouldn't be the best decision for him healthwise.

I can't see Castillo being too happy with himself (if he has a conscience) seriously injuring Corrales because of the weight difference.

I've read about how Ray Mancini wasn't the same after he was the reason his opponent died.

Now, it isn't death, but, imagine if Castillo had hurt Corrales so bad that he couldn't fight again or do other things again.

Also, I can't imagine that Castillo is happy anyway.
He's cost himself a fair bit of money, he's pissed off promoters and others involved in this finacially, and he's attracting all kinds of bad press and probably lost some fans too.

I'm not too knowledgable about what goes on in boxing punishment wise.

So, he may or may not be punished further for this.

I think the entire situation is a sad one.

      It doesn't really help anyone.

Then again, I probably lost most of you due to my rambling style of posting.

          Guys, this is real simple...

          EMPLOYER: BOB ARUM/TOP RANK

          EMPLOYEE: Jose Luis Castillo

When your boss tells you what to do, you just do it.

When your boss tells you to shut up, you shut up.

The people that run boxing, are not exactly guys that you wanna mess with.

The overwhelming pressure of having to perform under the most difficult situations is the life of a fighter. Pressure in the ring, even worse the pressure from the Promoter, the promoter has the power to blacklist fighters of his own choosing.

What is JLC suppose to do?

Fighters are the grunts of the business, don't let the media interviews and flashing lights fool ya!

I'm posting here because I don't feel like creating a thread for just one question.

Any news on what Castillo will be doing now?

i like the way castillo fights. hes exciting, powerful, tough, and has extreme determination and heart.

but him not making weight for the 2nd time has made me lose at least 75% of the respect that i once had for him.

I don't know what's going on, but it seems as though he just can't make the weight anymore.

Is that really a reason to dislike him or lose respect for him?
