Comments Thread For: Schaefer: If U.S. Networks Aren't Interested in WBSS, So Be It

NEWARK, N.J. Richard Schaefer hopes HBO or Showtime televises the semifinals of the World Boxing Super Series' cruiserweight and super middleweight tournaments. Schaefer, one of the tournament's promoters, believes the tournaments warrant wider television exposure in the United States. The cruiserweight tournament has been especially entertaining and will feature four of the division's world champions in the semifinals.

This is the best thing happening in boxing rite now. I watched it last night and realized what type of genius Richard Schafer is. The whole set up was nothing short of amazing

HBO might show interest. They've shown a few Usyk fights.

It's actually a shame if no network picks these fights up. These are legit tournaments with the best in the divisions competing. Pretty disgraceful actually.

Thankfully there are other countries that appreciate boxing.

Gassiev-Wlodarczyk could've filled a stadium in Poland or in Russia. Wasn't it a pity to waste this fight on a country that makes a big deal out of a fight between a retired boxer and an MMA fighter?

Instead of expanding to the US, Hearn should make London the new Mecca of boxing. At least Joshua is in no hurry to cross the ocean...

HBO would show CorralesVsMachado but not GassievVs any of the other remaining cruiserweights. If the don't, they need to fire whoever is in charge of the boxing program.

hes acting like he doesnt care when ****y and coke head kalle are desperately holding out for more money than either showtime or HBO will pay.

Pretty obvious and both networks are calling their bluff.

At the last minute they will be begging them to pay for probably less than half of what they were holding out for.

They seemed to have put the actual brackets and draws together in a way for minimal consideration for more respectable networks to get involved.

And that opening round is a mfer when schedules are made months in advance. I mean how many times has a premium network put on 8 fights in 8 weeks? And that's when all or some of these guys were there own fighters I imagine.

This needed a heads up and some good side programming, face offs, 247's and that sorta sh^t and the time everything came together was just too small for that to happen on top of the schedule problem.
