Trashing GGG for any reason or sometimes no reason at all a favorite sport of many posters on here. To the GGG hate club nothing he does is right and everything he does is wrong. At least GGG had to hit Wade numerous bombs to stop him. Lubin gets hit with one ten inch long punch that didn't look very hard and he goes down and stays down like he was shot in the head with a 44 magnum. Either that short Jermell punch was a lot harder than it looked to be or Lubin has a serious glass jaw. Even Khan has to get hit with a bomb before he is KOed.

Well, let's look at the whole picture her for a second. Dominic Wade had zero fights at 160 and no 12 round fights before fighting the unified champion in the division. Also, Lubin and Williams aren't "great wins". They are OK wins against solid prospects and nothing more.
Also, those prospects were being talked about here before those fights unlike Wade. You can find threads predicting Lubin and Williams to be great champions well before these fights were signed. I remember one poster having a gif of JRock in his sig well before that fight was announced etc.
The primary reason they are receiving more attention is because of where the Charlo brothers are in their careers. The Charlos aren't being rated P4P, aren't being called the best JMWs of all time etc etc. In this respect, KOing a couple of rated prospects is not bad.
All this is reflected in the betting odds. GGG was at least 50/1 and in many books 100/1 to beat Wade. The Charlos were less than 1.5/1 in their fights with Lubin and Williams. The odds explain the reaction quite well, frankly.
But if the Charlos go on to be talked about for the HOF (for which they are not at all close to qualifying right now), wins like Lubin and Williams will likely be ignored in those discussions.Last edited by BrometheusBob.; 10-22-2017, 08:27 AM.

TLDR - The Charlos are lower rated fighters who were fighting prospects people actually knew about and who many were predicting them to lose against. GGG was a P4P rated unified champion making a defense against someone who had never fought a 12 round fight and who had no chance of winning.
One of those two situations is more likely to generate buzz afterwards.
This thread is like asking why Mayweather dominating Guerrero isn't really a big deal, but why Thurman beating Guerrero earned him quite a deal of respect.Last edited by BrometheusBob.; 10-22-2017, 08:32 AM.
