Comments Thread For: Coldwell Explains: Amir Khan's Career is Going Down The Toilet!

Veteran trainer Dave Coldwell, who works with fighters such as Tony Bellew, believes former world champion Amir Khan (31-4, 19 KOs) is destroying his whole career. Khan has been inactive since May of 2016, when he jumped up to a catch-weight of 155-pounds to challenge then middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The Bolton boxer was brutally knocked out in the sixth round.

      Who mentioned anything about Hatton-Tyszu?

      Coldwell was referring to Hatton-Witter.

One who gets starched in that way by Breidis Prescott can't possibly be great. I had great expectations on Khan when I first saw him; they went down the toilet as well.

Point still stands, neither Khan nor Brook are bigger than Hatton, certainly not Brook lol

Anyway, I agree iwth Coldwell on the Khan/Brook situation but the assessment is a bit biased. Hearn agreed with what Khan said at some point last year, that Brook needed a bigger name on his resume to make the fight truly worthwhile.

That name should have been GGG but from then on, Khan just hasn't wanted to fight.

I've heard he has been in training, is he just wasting money? If theres no fight on the horizon.

Beyond brook, Khan has so many options, Thurman/Porter/DG2/Spence. All of them would have career high paydays against Khan but for whatever reason, he cant lift himself up into a fighting position.

Its weird and sad, I assume there are depression issues and alcohol/drugs.

Dave always makes sense like him or not.Khan's overrated sense of self importance and worth is now totally embarrassing and it's only Khan that doesn't get it.

We've never seen Khan in against a top welterweight just guys that have been already found out or names from the past.So we don't know how he would do .We can only assume because he has not and could have he himself has big doubts.

Khan said , I forget how many years ago he was going to 'clean out the welterweight division'...... lol! and all he has ever done is try to get himself in to bumper paydays with fighters he did not belong with .Whilst all the time shouting from the sidelines and making a complete idiot of himself.

With Khan as with all liars it is always someone else's fault from the 'man in the hat' to the complete embarrassment of wrongly throwing A.J.'S name around.

I doubt Khan can salvage anything of his now non existent career. The Brook fight is really done .Brook is a six round fighter at 147 and Khan would start by stating he is not a 154 fighter should the fight be made there .....not point.

Amir would be much better advised to retire and live off the the fact his best win was seven years ago in a lower weight class against a then very crude puncher called Maidana .It's only going to end in tears for Amir Khan and he has only he's ****** self to blame .He is totally deluded.

Khan will go after Brook only when he is financially broke.

Khan has made millions, captured world titles, Olympic medal, solid resume

Why would anyone feel sorry for him?

Khan should never give Brook a shot though. There was a offer on the table and Brook turned it down.

Kell Brook went the easy route and Khan took all the punishment. Yeah towards the end of Brooks career he stepped up and nearly went blind, it turned out just like we all said it would.

Now Brook is stuck, he cant move up, and he cant really make 147, horrible position to be in. All he has left is Khan.

Khan should possibly think about retirement, his slurs his words, just enjoy your life, your millions, health is wealth.

Brook should also retire, he stands no chance against the likes of Charlo or even a Spence rematch

Hearn ****ed it all up for Brook, that GGG fight was a ****** mistake, shortened his career

Khan can fight at welterweight against Peterson and Garcia both of which are winnable for him, Brook on the other hand can barely make 147 and would get destroyed by most at 154lbers, he has no where to go but Khan. Brook should have taken the 70-30 split when it was offered, instead he has two glass eyes that have been destroyed along with his future, the guy is a fat mess right now.

I agree. He made millions, but he`d better fought Thurman undefieted and than Khan and Spence and he would have still made big money. Now is Brook pretty much done.
