I like thruman and think he should be rated 1 at welter for now but don't like the way he is talkin about spence fight.he satin now he might need two fights before spence that's bs.he is a top fighter but NO star he needs to fight spence winner with a lttle push could become a star. 4 the rec spence wears him down to body and stops him late or wins clear dec

        Well Andres

If it is truly the here, & now, the Charlo Bros should be P4P fighters on everyone's list.
        Can't hold them off anymore.

                  2 Terence Crawford
                  3 Gennady Golovkin
                  4 Vasyl Lomachenko*
                  5 Wisaksil Wangek*
                  6 Anthony Joshua*
                  7 Jeff Horn
                  8 Luis Nery*
                  9 Miguel Berchelt*
                  10 Keith Thurman

Because it's based on the core question: Who'd you beat recently, and how many of those who's did you beat?

Nery is a bit suspect given he failed a test enroute to that win.

Notice no Rigo and that's because he hasn't beaten anyone worth mentioning RECENTLY.

Spence isn't there - he's a personal P4P for me, but the only real name he's beaten is Brook.

I personally think Crawford's too high, but I get it: he schooled Postol, who was high because he schooled Matthysse.

The problem is too many people are even making excuses for the rankings. I've heard crap like "resume don't matter" and "don't matter how long ago that was" and "X fighter was washed up when they fought". No. It's "who have you beat recently?" That's all that should matter; but people see fighters they don't like up there (Jeff "The Hornet" Horn) and start making excuses for their fighter that lost.

But all Thurman would have to do is unify with Jeff "The Hornet" Horn - who BTW is still # 1 Welterweight in the World, not Thurman - and boom, he'll shoot up. As well he should.
There's no nuance - that decision stunk or at the very least was controversial - so if boxrec aren't going to take account of that plus Nery too then their rankings are as bad as any other misguided rankings.

In general I am all for resume and recent activity - but I want to see allowance for poor or controversial decisions. I also want to see some allowance (but not much) for looking the part because you can look brilliant and not be able to get fights as with Golovkin 2-5 years ago and Rigo to a certain extent when a whole fookin division ran away from him at 122 because 126 looked so much safer.
