HW is the most prestigious divisions in boxing. It always was and always will be, despite some Americans pretending that it doesn't matter anymore during the Klitschko reign.

HW division is the only division in boxing where being the top guy and undisputed champ brings you automatic prestige and attention from the mainstream. No other division is like that. Find me someone who is not a boxing fan who cares about who the champ of say middleweight or welterweight division is. Unless that particular boxer is some big mainstream name no one cares. Yet many sports fans care enough to check who the HW champ is. Everybody knew who Klitschko was and now everybody knows who Joshua is and if Wilder somehow beats Joshua then everybody will know who he is as well. It's not because of their personality but simply because of them being HW champs.

HW division has the continuity with the legendary champs of old going all the way back to Dempsey, Louis and Marciano to Ali and Tyson, the most known boxers ever. The HW undisputed champ is inevitably going to be compared to these greats and mentioned together with them.

If they told you you will be a great boxer in your next life, you just need to choose your division... The vast majoritiy of people would want to be heavyweights. Even guys like Floyd would probably prefer to be born as heavyweights.

The heavyweight division is generally regarded by most people as the most prestigious division in boxing. But there is no most prestigious division in boxing. It's purely a person's preference. I personally find the Welterweight division to be the most prestigious due to numerous factors such as: the
fighter generally regarded as the greatest ever Sugar Ray Robinson fought a significant portion of his career at WW, the biggest ever fight, financially, (May-Pac) took place at welter. Numerous ATG fighters have fought at Welterweight including SRR, SRL, Hearns, Armstrong, Griffith, Floyd, Pac etc. But hey that's just my personal preference. And additionally you talk as if the the HW champ is always the the most renowned fighter in the sport, which is completely untrue. Take the late 70's to early 80's for example Larry Holmes was a dominant undisputed champion, but he was nowhere near as popular as Sugar Ray Leonard. And all throughout the last 10-15 years guys like ODLH, Floyd and Pacquiao were all way bigger names than any of the heavyweight's.

Absolutely mental statement, Fury Klitschko peaked at 1.7m and that was on at exactly the same time. Plus the people were actually paying to watch Canelo you moron. Canelo-GGG was PPV in the US, UK, Canada etc. AJ-Wlad was only big box office in the U.K. There are NO Facts to suggest that AJ is a bigger star/draw than a guy like Canelo. "Stay Humble".
