Comments Thread For: Groves: Eubank Not Good Enough, His Very Best Can't Beat Me!

GEORGE GROVES claims Chris Eubank Junior will be nervous after watching him wallop Jamie Cox. Groves, 29, booked a money-spinning World Boxing Super Series semi-final against Eubank with a fourth-round knockout of Swindon slugger Cox on Saturday night. Former sparring partner Eubank was ringside at Wembley Arena to witness Groves stop Cox with a stunning right uppercut to the body.

Although Groves isn't the world beater he thinks he is, Eubank has showed nothing since Saunders to suggest he can cope with a decent boxer who moves he's head and has counterpunching skills. I've never seem such a fuss as the one being made by Chris beating a completely unskilled opponent as he did last time out. Even when he lost to Saunders the press were going on about how well he did in the last few rounds. In fact, he was supposed to win in 5 rounds and be the future of UK boxing. He got he's ears boxed off.

Can't wait for this fight, I'm edging towards Groves on this one the naturally bigger fighter with the better resume and more experience at world level.

That being said Eubank Jr brings uncanny stamina and explosiveness and a very high work rate,,,it's just he throws his uppercuts way to often for me and a fighter with high ring IQ will be able to take that away from and punish him but they both like to box on the backfoot so it's going to be interesting as to who tries to hold centre of the ring.

Jnr is has a good work rate, can keep It going for 12 rounds and can take a shot. Groves is past his best, seems to fade in 2nd half of fight as he did vs Froch 2 and Jack, and got caught a lot over the weekend. I think Jnr will edge out the decision.

Groves what everyone wants to know is your opinion on Eubank saying he had his wicked way with you in sparring 90% of time.?
He is cautious and wary of saying it about Froch. Only you and degale he is singling out. Sparring isnt everything but it is something.

Totally agree. I can't believe the hype the guy gets from people on here who clearly don't know anywhere as much as they think. I actually saw a guy on here this week saying he was the fastest super middle since Roy Jones??? Er, Andre Ward, Calzaghe - genuine world class fighters?? Eubank isn't even that fast or impressive. Andre Direll was flawed in his character, but when he started fighting in the last few rounds against Froch, he was genuinely dazzling with his speed.
I see clearly every time I watch Eubank that he's just not that good, not particularly fast, skillful or powerful - he's barely even world class. He's got a good uppercut (overuses it tbh). I'm not a massive Groves fan but I think he should win comfortably.

Ive never heard George once denying it, all he says is that he only focuses on technique on sparring and doesnt give his all.
While I believe that is partly true I dont think he would voluntarily allow Eubank to win the majority of the rounds, George has a lot of pride and even in sparring if he wouldnt just allow another guy to dominate.
Furthermore if he lost those rounds he probably fair amount of punishment from Eubank given the nature of his relentless style and pressure.

Eubank seems to have the beating of Groves (in his mind atleast) and it shows, Groves on the other hand tries to be dismissive of Eubank, I think Groves is on edge for this fight.
