That A-side crap pisses me off.. Golovkin is the champ.. They just fought and Golovkin WON the fight... Even though it was ruled a rigged draw he defended and retained the belts. The world knows it. NO WAY i go to Texas or Vegas if I am Golovkin. I tell the world it is MSG so I don't get screwed again.

Cinco de Mayo is NOT a national holiday. It is not even celebrated in Mexico outside Puebla. Canelo is a Mexican from Jalisco, he isn't Mexican-American where 5/5 is much more celebrated than anywhere in Mexico, again outside Puebla.

He wants to really celebrate on a Mexican holiday then fight on Benito Juarez day in March.

But whatever Canelo is the shot caller. They are going to fight when he wants. I understand from his perspective why he wants to only fight twice a year now. Can't blame him, lots of money and only two fights. I think it is terrible for the sport but that's just how it is. Not many guys in Canelo's situation would do any different. These big money fights are actually bad for the sport of boxing in that guys don't have to fight as often now to make big money. Hard to drum up enthusiasm for a sport when the big names are fighting 2 times a year. Again don't blame the boxers just talking about the reality.

Personally I hope Golovkin fights before then but I highly doubt it. If he does I think it will be more so to avoid inactivity.

This 2 fights a year by the sports superstars is what's killing boxing...more exposure, more fan, more money and it can also help main stream the sport a little.

It is terrible but can't blame a boxer when they are making millions. It is a Catch 22, you want them to make good money but you want to see them fight more often. Here's a guy in Canelo who's in the prime of his career and he'll be fighting it looks like twice a year. DLH even was already a bit past his prime before a became a two time a year fighter.

While you are probably right that fighting on these days will be the biggest paydays (although I'm not convinced the difference would be absolutely staggering), the delay plays more to Canelo than to GGG because father time hurts GGG more than Canelo. Canelo is only getting better with each passing month. So, who is there to say that waiting for GGG to get old is not as much of an objective as a bigger payday? At the end of the day, they've been waiting for GGG to get older for 2 years already...

I'll try and make this simple for someone on the lower end of the IQ spectrum as you clearly are.

If a top end talent is only fighting two times a year vs. more times a year that is bad for the sport. You draw fans in the sport by activity not inactivity of the best fighters. The less the top guys fight the less appeal there is for the sport. It is a very simple concept. Again I don't blame boxers, who wouldn't do that? All you need to do is look at the decline of boxing as a sport in America and yet all the biggest money fights have happened from the 90s and on.

This has nothing to do with being a Golovkin fan and everything to do with being a fan of boxing. Why your first moronic instinct is to go to the ggg groupie talk is besides me. I'm not blaming any fighter or saying they should do anything different.

I remember that fight, Frampton lost CLEARLY but the cards made it seem like he dominated let alone won,they just wanted there to be a rematch for all the paddy money in vegas. And sure enough Frampton lost the rematch the same way. Its no wonder santa cruz doesn't want to fight in belfast where hell be robbed 11 rds to 1. Its no coincidence that Frampton was using a pathetic attempt to lure cruz into fighting in Belfast under the premise that he supposedly fought santa cruz already in his hometown so its his turn to return the favor. Yet msg was Framptons 2nd hometown with thousands of Paddy's filling msg & hometown decision. NY has always had terrible judging & have even been responsible 4 fighters being paralyzed,few times it was from allowing fighters to cheat with removed padding gloves.
