LONDON, England - Northern Irish boxer Carl Frampton says he has cut his sparring regimen by more than half to reduce his chances of developing brain damage. The 30-year-old former two-weight world champion faces Mexico's Horacio Garcia in Belfast on November 18. On that same card, IBF junior bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas of Panabo City, Philippines defends against Jamie Conlan.

Well expect to do half as good in your fights bud. Sparring is the #1 way to train. Everyone comes up with all these c0ckamamie ways to train to fight without fighting. Sparring is the way. Everything else is just for show

Well according to him he was doing nearly twice as much as most do before he cut back.

If you want to prevent brain damage, stop boxing.

Smart move. No reason to do twice as much sparring as the average. Stamina will do more to get a fighter thru 10-12 rounds anyway... that and getting down to the average in sparring will prepare him just fine. Hopefully we can have the LSC trilogy in '18.

Could be a sign that Frampton has one foot out the door, a little shot maybe? Isn't prepared to go to where he would before..

That's one way to look at it but he's known to spar more than most and he now has a new trainer. It seems he'd probably following the trainers regime after the switch.

wow, dont even think Pacquiao sparred that many rounds and he was known for his work ethic and sparring wars in the gym
220 is excessive, he can get all he needs with 120 rounds or less
