Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez Back on February 3: I Want Gennady Golovkin!

He's never fighting Lara. The fact that you're even considering this shows how naive you are. And he never expressed any desire to give Jacobs a rematch. He also started talking more about retirement than moving to 168 lately, a move that wouldn't seem profitable nor wise after a rematch or even possibly a trilogy with Canelo.
Some people believe Golovkin's only goal is legacy, I believe he's about the money more than anything else. If it doesn't seem profitable to him, I doubt Golovkin will take any unnecessary risks. I see him cashing out right after he's done with Canelo or a unification bout so he can have all the belts and bow out.Comment

hey maybe if ramirez sends an offer to fight ggg in may ramirez fans will pretend like ggg is ducking. same thing ward did. postpone that 30 million dollar fight to fight for a couple mill please. oh yeah and these are the same floyd boxing is a business defenders not living up to their own ideology.
They're not "acting" like anything. Golovkin literally said in the boxingscene "Ramirez needs more big names" article that he doesn't want anything to do with Zurdo Ramirez and made the hypocritical claim that he is "too small" for 168 despite fighting smaller guys like Kell Brook and Canelo himself and claiming he wanted Cotto in December
But let's be honest, after Canelo boxed Golovkin's ears off and Jacobs went toe to toe with him for 12 rounds, Golovkin ain't scaring nobody anymore. His "skill" is rapidly declining after he's finally fought boxers worth a damn.
That said Zurdo Ramirez ain't no Canelo either, he's been hurt by bums.Last edited by dramarama; 10-13-2017, 01:29 PM.Comment

As long as Lara chooses to hide at 154 it won't happen. But once he sacks up and makes the move up to 160 the ball will be in GGG's court.
And he never expressed any desire to give Jacobs a rematch.

He doesn't seem scared of a rematch. He's also said he could see himself fighting for 4 or 5 more years. He's getting older. It makes sense for him to start thinking about his post boxing life. Its a hard sport. Ward retired this year and if memory serves me he's actually younger than GGG. But that doesn't mean we have to erase all other possible fights as being unrealistic. There is definately more of a time component to it though especially if GGG acquieses to Golden Boy and stays inactive until the rematch.

I don't see why one has to be the death of the other. The fight with Canelo is a big money fight but its also big for his legacy. Some people believe Golovkin's only goal is legacy, I believe he's about the money more than anything else. If it doesn't seem profitable to him, I doubt Golovkin will take any unnecessary risks.Comment

Love the choice of words here. "Hide". He's a natural 154er. Golovkin "hid" at 160 his whole career. Never seemed to cause a problem.
Golovkin never shown interest in fighting him. He'll only do it if he's forced to. But like I said earlier, this fight doesn't mean a thing for him money wise and is a risk, and I don't think a carefully managed fighter like Golovkin will be allowed or willing to take it.
You're using post fight and press conference footage. Of course he's going to say he wants a rematch, but they haven't shown interest in actually negotiating for one. And again, a Jacobs rematch would make absolutely no sense after an insanely lucrative rematch or trilogy with Canelo.

It has nothing to do with him getting older, but more about him finally getting paid. He's also said he could see himself fighting for 4 or 5 more years. He's getting older. Never said it was. All I said is that I believe that Golovkin's first motivation is money, hence why I don't expect him to accept a nonsensical fight from a business standpoint, but a great one legacy wise, like Lara-Golovkin.Comment

He's a natural 154lber who was calling out a natural 160lber. That's when staying in his division becomes an issue.
My point is that if Lara ever moved up to 160 he would have forced the issue. I wanted Lara to jump up and challenge GGG. Put pressure on GGG to prove he's the most avoided fighter in boxing. But as long as both are playing in their own seperate sandboxes its pointless to say who really is avoiding the fight.Golovkin never shown interest in fighting him. He'll only do it if he's forced to. But like I said earlier, this fight doesn't mean a thing for him money wise and is a risk, and I don't think a carefully managed fighter like Golovkin will be allowed or willing to take it.
Of course, rematch talk is going to stem from the time immediately after the fight. That's when its most newsworthy. After a while, the fight fades from the public's attention and the world moves onto bigger and better things like the possibility of GGG/Canelo.You're using post fight and press conference footage. Of course he's going to say he wants a rematch, but they haven't shown interest in actually negotiating for one. And again, a Jacobs rematch would make absolutely no sense after an insanely lucrative rematch or trilogy with Canelo.
I don't see Lara/Golovkin as a great fight for his legacy. Its definately a hard-core fight fan's dream matchup but that's about it. I think Lara has mostly squandered the public goodwill he received from getting robbed in the Paul Williams fight and losing a close decision to Canelo that many felt he won. His opposition post-Canelo has been mediocre at best.Never said it was. All I said is that I believe that Golovkin's first motivation is money, hence why I don't expect him to accept a nonsensical fight from a business standpoint, but a great one legacy wise, like Lara-Golovkin.Comment

he already tried to fight froch, chavez jr, and ward at 168. aka fights that were worth something. is ramirez on their level?. you are mad at him for tellign the truth and not figthing some unknown guy just to make you happy? comparing froch, chavez jr, canelo and cotto to ramirez yeah great argument...he doesnt want anything to do with him because he has bigger fights he could take. prety simply. this isnt floyd fighting guerrero and maidana instead of pac here. its you being mad that a guy you hate isnt fighting a guy you want him to fight simply so you can say hes ducking so you threw out all logic and reason to make an incoherent argment. They're not "acting" like anything. lets be honest...and then says something entirely dishonest.Comment
