Pretty much, lol. No idea how small you can scale Madison Square Garden, but logic would tell you that they should've just run the big room, at a reasonable price ($500-$50), and only open up the upper deck (at anything between $40 and $20) when the ticket tracking showed that most of the lower bowl seats were sold.
No idea of the placement of the seats and the different price points, it'd seem as if Lomachenko-Rigondeaux was well on its way to selling 8k-9k full value tickets (with comps/discounts coming in on top of that).
MSG having a max capacity of almost 20k is pretty daunting, but closing off the top level will ease that.
