There are certain fights where the lesser known fighter gets a win over the star but nobody really cares because the lesser star never capitalized on the win while the star continued to make big fights. This is 1 of those scenarios. Trout became a small footnote in cottos career that nobody really cares about. Same thing with Zahir Raheem when he beat Erick morales or when Manfredy beat Gatti or junior Jones beat Barrera. The hall of famers remained as such while the guys who beat them never achieved much beyond those wins.

Trout beat Cotto fair and square. Cotto rebounded his career hired Roach after this fight and the excuse from his fans to explain the loss is a mixture of a bad trainer/he overlooked trout. A second loss to Trout would be devastating no shot he ever fights him again. It's high risk low reward. He's looking for a big money fight or a easy winnable fight. Trout doesn't check either of those boxes so that's why Cotto never mentions him.

Nah, it was his last camp with Diaz, the Cuban trainer. They were on the outs during this camp and spent time in Big Bear to train, but left too early to go to Florida. The high altitude training had reverse effects because of the early move. I would probably venture to say that was Cotto on one of his worst nights against Trout on his best night.

Yeah that was DEFINITELY Trout's best performance I've seen. And that was Cotto's WORST!!! IMO as well

I think he had rigos trainer Pedro Diaz at that time, but I are right the corner was weak as ever, last time he had a sorry corner and was basically training himself was when he fought PAC, he had his chief 2nd be his full time trainer, around that time he was a mess with the whole his uncle situation, but when he fought trout he thought it was a walk in the park and trained lightly

I was surprised Trout won that fight. I expected Cotto to walk thru him. Trout is a bad style matchup for him. Cotto did the right thing by not asking for a rematch. Just like Roman should have done the same thing with Sor and just moved on.
