I don't blame him. Trout is tall and rangy, and he's a slick and cagey southpaw. That's a nightmare for anyone.

Trout is obviously just looking to keep his faded brand out there by mentioning a popular name knowing Cotto is planning to retire. He may even be trying to coax his way to another BIG fight with Cotto knowing his style poses problems for Cotto.
It's not really that hard to understand. I like Cotto, but it's simple. Trout's boxing style, movement, stance and range troubled the shorter, stockier Cotto who I also believe underestimated Trout as a challenger and it was simply a "pick" gone wrong similar to when Erik Morales and co. underestimated Zahir Raheem. The best version of Cotto would have trouble with Trout even though Cotto is the more accomplished fighter simply because of styles. I could see a scenario where Cotto could beat a more faded and overconfident Trout. But I'd say 7/10, Trout wins on "styles make fights"
After beating Cotto, Trout's best opponents since then have been Canelo, Lara and Charlo. He lost to all of them convincingly. He's simply looking to rebuild. He can't live off the Cotto win forever.Last edited by TyrantT316; 10-10-2017, 09:16 AM.

Trout Surprised Cotto Never Even Mentioned
We are not. Cotto has bigger fish to fry and no one holds not asking for a rematch against you against Cotto.
I haven't met one person clamoring for a rematch but you (due to your fading career). Trout need Cotto more than Cotto need Trout, he's a first ballot HOF without the Trout rematch.

Cotto beat Trout and got robbed because Trout is Black - simple as that.

Why would he? This is the issue i had with some puerto rico posters on here. Cotto is on his last legs after 16 years as a pro, he isn't looking for a tough fight as his last hurrah. He would look for a winnable fight to say his good bye. But some Puerto rico fan thought he could still take on GGG/Canelo winner........Delusional
