Canelo has a ton of ways out. He took the fight, didn't lose, and is a huge star. He can fight in maybe three different classes and would shine in any of them. Any other boxer would leap at the payday to rumble with him under any fair conditions. Alvarez does not NEED this rematch. At all. I bet that he does want it, though. He is a great- not good, great- boxer with decent power and an improved defense that is in the prime of his career. He most likely feels he took GGG at his best right now and there is no reason for him to think he can't win a rematch. Trip G is perceived to be biggest challenge out there right now and is the biggest sell at the PPV box office.

Side note: I actually think Golovkin has several areas he can do better in the rematch. I think he feels he got the best of Alvarez and is sure he can handle any power shot. Regardless of how bad he wants that last strap at 160, I think he understands the payday and the prestige that a victory in a rematch will bring and will establish him as the "A" side star he has long deserved to be. He also has maybe 2 years left at most at this level so he has to strike now before father time TKO's him.

No, I do not think either fighter has to take this rematch. But they are both classy, competitive, and pride driven boxers. It will happen, and be announced before the end of this fantastic 2017.

With all due respect to Hunter, I hardly think Canelo is looking for a way out... work on conditioning, he wins by stoppage
