Funny thing is Hopkins was 43 when he beat Kelly. He would go on to fight Pascal twice, winning the lineal LHW title. Fought Dawson twice, losing the lineal title. Beat Cloud, then Shumenov to unify the LHW division. Lost to Kovalev in another unification attempt. Retired at 51 after losing to Joe Smith.

He did as much from 43-51 as Ward did in his entire career.

Ward's career spanned 13 years. Let's extend Hopkins to the last 10 years of his career, so from age 41 to 51. Hopkins beat the following:
1) Tarver - RING title
2) Winky
3) Pavlik - Undefeated
4) RJJ - Old
5) Pascal - RING title
6) Cloud - Undefeated
7) Shumenov - Unification

Add to that a SD loss to an undefeated Calzaghe that half the audience scored for Hopkins and a draw in the first Pascal fight that nearly everyone scored for Hopkins.

The only real blemishes are decisions to Dawson and Kovalev. The same Kovalev that 3/4 of the audience had beating Ward the first time around. No one really cares about that loss at age 51.

I'm a Ward fan but it's tough not to pick Hopkins' resume in his 40s over Ward's entire career.

I love Pavlik but Jesus Ward is wrong for him in every way imaginable. Kelly has to say that he would win, because what self respecting man would say otherwise? But if Hopkins worked him over so badly I can only imagine what a much younger and peak athlete like Ward would have done to him.

Not it isn't. PED usage is not accepted in the US like it is in the Ex-Soviet union. It isn't state sponsored either.
