Don't know why you brought Ali into it cause we're talking about Tunney a man to scared to fight any African American also this quote from the fighting marine "
GENE TUNNEY Unbelievable racist content T.L.S. "Gene" on his business letterhead, 2pp. 4to., Stamford, Apr. 8, 1949 to his close friend Robert Gros in which Tunney sets forth his views on the inequality of the races. In very small part: "...I have learned a great deal about the Negro problem since I have taken this job...the American Negro is no more like his African cousins...than we are like Neanderthal men. The American Negro, without exception, has a good infusion of white blood...[he] is a development of physical selection.Women ****** were serviced by men ******, just as mares of the racetrack are serviced by great sires. This accounts for much of the physical superiority of the Negro...The intelligent man's objection tothe Negro [is based] on his cultural immaturity...[they] will be accepted by Americans just as soon as he proves his equality culturally and spiritually...Men are not created equal. Not one percent of the people of the world are gifted with brains enough to contribute to the progress of the world..."Comment

I think GGG and Canelo are great fighters and great people. They are always polite and respectful. Canelo returned to Baldomir a very large amount of money Baldomir had to pay him for being overweight. GGG is donating money to the victims of the earth quake in Mexico.Comment

Good list. What about Ali? And Lomanchecko was a total @ss in the ring in his last fight. I hope he loses and eventually loses his arrogance. Not a nice guy.Comment

Historical context goes a long way. What was comsidered racism then and now are apples and oranges. Perhaps you can source that passage? Or will you just link it to some other boxing forum? As for Ali, we can talk about any fighter we want. The thread is about fighters who were generally good people. Ali is considered a patron saint among many fans and sportswriters but he was a flawed man, as are all men. You have to judge a man for the sum of his deeds and make a proper judgment call. Not assassinate his entire character on the basis of a single flaw or two.Don't know why you brought Ali into it cause we're talking about Tunney a man to scared to fight any African American also this quote from the fighting marine "
