IIRC there was about 10,000 or so watching the free undercard stream, i doubt much more than a small percentage of those would have gone on to pay and watch. Honestly they might be lucky to have got a thousand.

In america there are so many mainstream sports such as, NFL, Hockey, Baseball, Nascar, Golf, maybe Tennis not so sure? But in the UK you only really have ONE mainstream sport which is FOOTBALL/SOCCER, all the other sports such as Rugby, Track and Field Athletics, Cricket, Tennis, Cycling and Golf are what boxing as a sport competes against! And if a promotional company promotes boxing correctly, those other sports don't really stand a chance! Growing up in the UK, if you are working class the only sports you have mostly experienced are Football some form of athletics and boxing! (But obviously I can imagine that there are more sports made accessible these days).

I was looking at the price of swimming lessons the other day, for a regional club! (And the prices for weekly sessions where ridiculous, even a sport like swimming is made inaccessible to some kids in this country! America for sport STILL has a lot more opportunities)...

Clearly it's not down to 'the number of casuals who'll watch anything' in the UK.

Even Eubank Jr can barely sell 3k tickets without Hearn, same with nearly all Frank Warren's shows. Empty arenas.

Hearn is just a solid sales guy.

I agree Hearn has a part to play, but Sky Sports is the kingmaker in UK boxing.

Hearn made that deal, and he has kept it, so in that sense he is absolutely doing his job properly. But i doubt he lasts as the top dog without Sky machine behind him

It's not like FW never did shows on Sky. Last time he did, his shows were as boring as they are now.

              Definitely.

Reason being is that he has a background in marketing, been around Boxing his whole life due to his dad (valuable source of info) and he saw a gap in the market.

Frank Warrens shows are BORING. Eddie Hearn makes the atmosphere more fun, puts on cards with a lot of local lads on there, focuses on markets with big appetites for Boxing (helped by having a local star to build) and is a very well spoken guy who is likeable.

He's competing with Frank Warren who is laughably behind the times (sees Twitter as a tool for losers) and has the BIGGEST and BEST TV channel for Sport on his side in Sky Sports. I don't think he'll be too successful in the states imo because it's a full time job to build that huge market up again and it would require for new offices to be built there. I think he's doing it more of a side hussle than fully prioritising it as his main cash cow. The U.S just isn't into Boxing the way the UK is. UK has always been in love with Boxing....even when we had a poor patch when Amir Khan was carrying it on TV and Hatton had just started to make it big it was still doing great numbers on ITV.
